China Anji White Tea Network Information: Leishan County in Guizhou is committed to building a "large county of Guizhou Anji White Tea". By 2016, the whole county plans to have 90,000 mu (about 14,826 acres) of high-quality tea plantation bases, producing 3,500 tons of products with a comprehensive output value of the tea industry reaching 800 million yuan. The added value of the Anji White Tea industry will account for more than 10% of the county's gross production, gradually making the Anji White Tea industry a pillar for farmers' poverty alleviation and wealth creation. Right after the Spring Festival of the Year of the Dragon, the county sparked a wave of land preparation and tea planting. By February 15, the county had completed the preparation of 5,370 mu (about 887 acres) of new tea plantations, accounting for 89.5% of the 6,000 mu (about 988 acres) target task, having distributed over 8 million tea seedlings, with a planting area reaching 2,300 mu (about 381 acres).

In recent years, Leishan County has implemented a development strategy for its tea industry: "supporting one strong enterprise, promoting one brand, cultivating one market, forming a major industry." Seizing the opportunity of the national implementation of the Western Development Strategy, the county has focused on developing the Anji White Tea industry as an important pillar for enriching the people and revitalizing the county. The scale of tea gardens has rapidly expanded, and the output and value of Anji White Tea have increased year by year. In 2011, the county developed 78,000 mu (about 12,926 acres) of Anji White Tea, among which 38,000 mu (about 6,266 acres) were already in production. The annual output was 1,046 tons of dried tea, with a value of 158 million yuan, achieving sales revenue of 150 million yuan; farmers earned over 26 million yuan from Anji White Tea, with a per capita income of 831 yuan. Planting, managing, and selling tea has become a path to prosperity for mountainous area farmers.

To ensure the seedling needs for the construction of 6,000 mu (about 988 acres) of new tea plantations across the county in 2012, at the beginning of 2011, the Leishan County White Tea Development Bureau actively organized experts in asexual reproduction tea seedling cultivation to rent over 130 mu (about 21 acres) of farmland in three villages—Zhi’an, Gulu, and Huangli—for seedling cultivation, capable of producing 19.5 million tea seedlings. To seize the seasonal planting time, various townships in the county are now sending vehicles to transport tea seedlings from the nurseries to newly constructed tea plantation bases in each village.
