In 1997, the CASL assembly language compiler written by Wang Jing was selected for the national finals of the Chinese College Students Computer Competition, and was personally received by Zou Jiahua, who was then Vice Premier of the State Council. Due to his slow writing speed, Wang Jing failed the postgraduate entrance examination several times. When he was almost losing hope, he wrote a letter to Zou Jiahua expressing his desire to continue his studies. Fortunately, Zou Jiahua contacted several universities who were willing to make an exception and set up a separate examination room for Wang Jing. Eventually, Wang Jing realized his dream and came to Jilin University to pursue a master's degree, and then continued on to pursue a doctorate.
Under the guidance of his mentor Professor Zhou Chunjing, Wang Jing has published more than 20 papers, including 4 SCI journal articles (SCI is the most authoritative tool for scientific statistics and evaluation internationally). At the age of 22, he passed the national senior programmer qualification examination with high scores through self-study, becoming one of the youngest engineers in the country... Not only that, as the only domestic invitee, Wang Jing attended the International Biometrics Conference held in Washington, USA in October 2011. The conference's doctoral forum invited 10 PhD students from around the world who are considered to have the most promising future in this field.
(According to reports from the "Shenzhen Crystal Newspaper")
The computer opened the door to the world for him.
Wang Jing said that his short-term goal is to find a satisfactory job after completing his doctorate. Wang Jing said that he hopes the country will give more consideration to people with disabilities in terms of systems and policies, allowing those with dreams to smoothly attend school and work, achieving their life goals.
In the computer building of Jilin University's Qianwei campus, a young man with a stout body who relies on a walker to walk catches the eye. He is Wang Jing, a cerebral palsy patient whose legs cannot stand upright, whose hands cannot hold objects, whose right leg and right hand have basically lost function, and who needs a walker to walk. He has to sit with his legs crossed to control the tremors, and can only use his left hand to write, control the mouse, and type on the keyboard.
It is understood that before Wang Jing actually saw a computer, he had already gained a lot of knowledge about it by reading related books. Later, his grandmother raised more than 10,000 yuan to buy him a 286 computer.
Born in Huai'an, Jiangsu in 1976, Wang Jing suffered from "cerebral hypoxia sequelae" due to a difficult childbirth, which became the curse of fate bestowed upon him. However, he did not give up striving, diligently studying, and is now a doctoral graduate student in the School of Computer Science and Technology at Jilin University. Not only that, his research achievements have been recognized by the international academic community, making him one of the 10 promising doctoral students invited globally to the 2011 International Biometric Recognition Conference Doctoral Forum. For this reason, he has been called the "paralyzed doctor" and the "Chinese version of Hawking" by netizens.
