Although living in the "bamboo house" is romantic, it's not easy to maintain. "Even though the materials have been treated with carbonization and protected against insects and dampness, they are still exposed to wind and sun outdoors. Once we find any broken or damp wood, we need to replace it locally. In this way, the wood of the whole bamboo house will be basically replaced within two years." said Manager Lu, who operates an Anji countryside homestay with 19 "bamboo houses". Anji "bamboo house" is also a feature of local countryside homestays that are very popular among tourists.
