In just one week, a young man lost 8000 yuan at an arcade! Recently, through QQ flash messages, a reporter conducted undercover visits to several arcades on Gaolan Road, Jinchang South Road, and Maiji Mountain Road in Chengguan District. It was found that all of them had gambling machines, with many young people becoming addicted. Not only were large amounts of money "sucked away," but it also triggered family conflicts.

Citizens recount: Son loses 8000 yuan in one week

"In less than a week, he lost 8000 yuan." On the morning of October 24, citizen Mr. Zhou told reporters that his 20-year-old son often gambled with some friends at arcades near Gaolan Road and Maiji Mountain Road, losing 8000 yuan in less than a week.

According to Mr. Zhou, his son used to only play online games. Half a month ago, his son became addicted to arcades, constantly lingering around Jinchang South Road, Maiji Mountain Road, and Gaolan Road. He had even resorted to physical violence against his son, but his son remained addicted. To prevent his son from entering the arcade again, recently he controlled his son's living expenses and took back the bank card he had previously given to his son.

Reporter's undercover visit: Gambling machines fill the arcade

"Every day, many young people go inside to play, including quite a few elementary school students and middle school students." A nearby shop owner told reporters that every weekend and evening, there are more people going to the arcade. They often enter with money and leave empty-handed.

Subsequently, the reporter conducted an undercover visit to an arcade on Gaolan Road as indicated by Mr. Zhou. In a not-so-large room, there were a few relatively simple game machines placed around. About a dozen young people were looking around, staring at the game machine screens for entertainment. The arcade had two floors; the first floor had relatively simple game machines, while the second floor had large game machines such as "slot machines" and "shark machines." There were more people on the second floor, with the entire game hall filled with young men and women in their twenties and thirties. The reporter approached a female player around 20 years old and learned that an hour earlier, she exchanged 100 yuan for 200 game coins. In less than half an hour, the game coins in her hand were almost gone.

In the game hall, Xiao Wang, who came to Lanzhou to work, told reporters that one of his friends was deeply addicted to arcade games, and he had come to look for his friend. According to him, he had already reported to the public security authorities and provided the locations of several major large arcades. On the afternoon of October 25, the reporter informed the Lanzhou City Cultural Administrative Law Enforcement Brigade about this matter. A staff member of the Cultural Administrative Law Enforcement Brigade recorded the location of the arcade in detail and said they would organize personnel to investigate as soon as possible.
