Apple has chosen to unveil the successor to the iPad 2, the iPad 3, at a brand event to be held in the first week of March. According to sources, this event will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, a preferred venue for Apple's major product launches.

The insider speculated that the retail timeline for the next-generation iPad will roughly match that of the iPad 2: sales are expected to commence about a week after the product is unveiled.

As for the next-generation iPad itself, the source said it will resemble the iPad 2 in appearance but will feature a faster chip, enhanced graphic processing capabilities, and its battery capacity will be twice as large as that of the iPad 2. Additionally, the resolution will also double that of the iPad 2, reaching 2048x1536 pixels.

A spokesperson for Apple refused to disclose the exact timing of the event, stating that the company does not comment on rumors and speculations.
