ECNS, April 1 -- According to foreign media reports, a British gray-and-white-spotted cat named "Smoke" became famous because of its extremely loud purring sound. Its purring was measured at an astonishing 73 decibels, potentially setting a world record. The Northampton University in the UK which measured the volume of Smoke's purring said that when Smoke purred the loudest, it was 16 times louder than other cats, comparable to the noise of traffic peaks, hairdryers or vacuum cleaners. In order to get her beloved cat officially recognized, Adams asked Northampton University to provide the necessary equipment for applying Guinness World Records. Last week, Northampton University sent a team with special recording equipment to Adam’s comfortable home in the village of Pitsford to record Smoke's purring sounds. Pitsford is located 110 kilometers northwest of London. Northampton University stated that the recording has been submitted to the Guinness World Records. (ECNS Living Channel) Adams said on the website he set up for his beloved cat: "Sometimes it coughs and drools because of the loud purring." It "even purrs while eating." Adams adopted this cat from a shelter three years ago. Last month, owner Adams decided to hold a local cat purring competition, and this 12-year-old, normal-sized female cat immediately attracted national attention. It made appearances on radio programs, followed by widespread media coverage, with headlines like "Thunder Cat," "Noisy Cat" filling the tabloids.
