On Lantern Festival, a young couple drunkenly "betted" to go winter swimming by jumping into the river. However, after the girl jumped in as agreed, the boy was so scared that he immediately called the police.
At 1 a.m. on February 6th, the Jinsha County Public Security Bureau's emergency number suddenly rang: "Help! My girlfriend jumped into the river!" A Mr. Yang shouted anxiously on the phone. After receiving the call, the county police quickly rushed to the scene.
When the police arrived at the scene, a young woman was struggling in the river, continuously shouting "You scammer! Scammer!" Meanwhile, Mr. Yang, who had reported the incident, helplessly stood on the bridge. The temperature at the time was only -2°C, but the police officers immediately jumped into the river and made great efforts to rescue the woman. She was extremely cold with a strong smell of alcohol. The police quickly sent her to the Jinsha County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. After examination, the woman was found to be physically unharmed.
According to Mr. Yang, the woman who jumped into the river was his girlfriend, aged 22. They were both from Chengguan Town, Jinsha County. That day, they celebrated the Lantern Festival together and drank a lot of alcohol at a restaurant by the river. Later, while strolling on the Wanwan Bridge, since his girlfriend had just learned how to swim, Mr. Yang bet with her to see who dared to jump into the river for winter swimming.
"Maybe because of the alcohol, I said it casually, but my girlfriend agreed and even said let's jump together. Before I knew it, she jumped right in. But I can't swim at all, so I didn't dare to jump, and instead immediately called the police," Mr. Yang explained.
