Report from China News Service, Xian, on February 8th (by Yichen Zhang and Wei Lie) - At around 11 a.m. on the 8th, six people including Zhang Xian, Wang Hui, Zhang Pingxuan, Zhang Lang (Zhang Pingxuan's second daughter), and fellow villagers arrived at Yao Qingwei’s home to "demand" a donation of 200,000 yuan. Due to communication issues, an argument and physical altercation occurred with Ma Yanming, Yao Qingwei's proxy who was waiting downstairs in Yao's building. Subsequently, they were taken to the police station by local law enforcement for questioning.

Family members of the victim in the Yao Jiaxin case had an argument and physical confrontation in the hallway with Ma Yanming. Ma Yanming emphasized that Yao Qingwei was unwell, suffering from heart disease, and had fully entrusted him to handle this matter. To avoid any conflicts arising from a face-to-face meeting, he waited downstairs early. Legally speaking, the Yao family no longer has the obligation to pay the 200,000 yuan. From the aspects of sentiment, reason, and law, he does not wish for any friction between both parties.

Ma Yanming, Yao Qingwei's agent, told reporters that the conflict arose due to contradictory statements made by the Zhang family regarding the 200,000 yuan donation. According to Yao Qingwei's disclosure, the 200,000 yuan was personally handed over by him and his wife to Zhang Pingxuan, who accepted it after their conversation, but later returned the money for unknown reasons. If the Zhang family can provide sufficient evidence proving that donations from society have been exhausted, leading to their inability to sustain their livelihood, then he would be willing to offer a certain level of support to the Zhang family, and could continue donating until his death.

In the midst of the noise, Zhang Pingxuan appeared somewhat reserved. He stated that during the period when the Yao Jiaxin case entered the capital punishment review process, Yao Qingwei had once delivered 200,000 yuan to his home, but he mailed it back because this 200,000 yuan came with conditions — specifically, the intention to seek a lighter sentence for Yao Jiaxin. Now, Zhang Miao's mother Liu Xiaoqian is ill and urgently needs money, so they are willing to accept this 200,000 yuan donation.

At 12:30 p.m., Zhang Xian, Wang Hui, and Zhang Pingxuan were brought to the Changley Road Police Station in Xian for mediation. A reporter from China News Service rushed to the scene for an interview.

On the morning of the 7th, through the blog of their agent Zhang Xian, the father of Zhang Miao, Zhang Pingxuan, and her mother Liu Xiaoqian announced that they were willing to accept the "200,000 yuan donation offered by Yao Qingwei during the trial of the Yao Jiaxin case," and would "proceed to Yao Qingwei's residence on the morning of February 8, 2012, to receive the payment." Previously, the family of Zhang Miao had rejected this donation.
