@Replay Suspect of Scalding 85% of the Girl's Body Turned out to be Her Biological Father and His Girlfriend
In August 2011, Xiaqiurong, a 7-year-old girl from Yunfu who had grown up with her grandparents, was found to have been scalded over 85% of her body after living with her biological father for more than a month. Under the persistent questioning of her elders, Xiaqiurong finally revealed the terrifying experience of being cruelly scalded by her biological father and his girlfriend. Looking at Xiaqiurong, whose whole body was almost devoid of intact skin, the family angrily reported the inhumane father and his girlfriend to the public security authorities, leading to their subsequent criminal detention.
After Xiaqiurong was transferred to Guangzhou for treatment, this incident was widely reported by multiple media outlets across the country. Love donations poured in continuously, and many enthusiastic citizens also visited her in the hospital one after another. Every move of Xiaqiurong touched countless kind hearts. After several skin graft surgeries, Xiaqiurong, who could not move at all while lying on the ICU bed months ago, was finally discharged smoothly in November last year and returned to her hometown in Yunfu, where she was taken care of by her grandmother and aunt, awaiting plastic surgery scheduled for April or May this year.
Now, what Xiaqiurong wants to do most is to return to school and study after her body fully recovers.
Sometimes applying medicine hurts so much that she cries.
On December 14th last year, accompanied by her aunt and grandmother, Xiaqiurong returned to the Guangzhou Red Cross Hospital for rehabilitation treatment for the first time and did not return to her hometown in Yunfu until January 9th this year. Her grandmother said that during the 26 days of rehabilitation treatment, Xiaqiurong was very happy. Just before leaving, doctors and nurses teased her by asking if she wanted to come back, and she replied without hesitation, "Yes." The next time she returns to the hospital for treatment is tentatively scheduled for mid-February.
Xiaqiurong, who has been officially discharged for more than two months, needs to apply medicine three times a day and once before going to bed every day to prevent hypertrophic scars. Her grandmother said that although she needs to apply medicine every three or four hours, Xiaqiurong is always very conscious and obediently lets her grandmother or aunt apply the medicine. However, each time when applying the medicine, especially when applying a certain type of yellow ointment, the chubby Xiaqiurong can't help but cry out in pain. "Sometimes applying the medicine hurts so much that she cries, saying it itches. When it itches, she wants to scratch, but we can't let her." Mentioning the suffering her granddaughter endures while applying medicine, her grandmother feels deeply heartbroken. She added that only at night when sleeping does Xiaqiurong appear calm, but she still often cannot sleep due to the itching.
To avoid further hypertrophic scarring on Xiaqiurong's body, Aunt Lin Tianyun specially bought two sets of elastic compression clothing for her niece, allowing Xiaqiurong to wear them alternately every day. Although she has to wear the same clothes every day, Xiaqiurong doesn't throw tantrums because "even if she doesn't like it, she has to wear it." During her return to Guangzhou for rehabilitation treatment, forgetting to bring the elastic compression clothing caused Xiaqiurong's scarring to worsen, prompting her grandmother to specially ask family members to send the clothes from Yunfu to Guangzhou.
She gets upset when people say she looks ugly.
Her grandmother said that when Xiaqiurong first returned home, her main daily activity was watching TV, occasionally following her grandmother to the fields to play. Since school was not yet on holiday, Xiaqiurong always seemed lonely, staying indoors every day and never venturing outside. But after winter vacation started, she almost spent all her time "crazy" with other children from the village, often playing with toys like "turtle cars," rarely sitting quietly at home, and even forgetting the time as it got dark, waiting for her grandmother to call her home for dinner.
Every day, while playing with other children, despite it being winter and wearing long sleeves, others inevitably noticed the scars on Xiaqiurong's body. However, children are candid and say whatever comes to mind. Although most of the children playing with Xiaqiurong know why her skin looks this way, some still point to her unattractive scars and say, "Why does it look like this? It's so ugly." Her grandmother said that when people say she looks ugly, Xiaqiurong also gets upset, but she soon forgets about it and never tells the elders about these incidents.
Wants to go back to school soon.
Since the summer vacation when she was scalded, the 7-year-old Xiaqiurong has never stopped wanting to return to school. Aunt Lin Tianyun said that because she currently needs to apply medicine every day, if Xiaqiurong goes to school, it might delay her recovery. According to the hospital's estimate, Xiaqiurong's plastic surgery will need to wait another three to four months before proceeding, so the family plans to enroll her in the local Qidong Primary School in September this year to start first grade.

Imprisoned father writes a letter seeking forgiveness; mother visits after discharge
Lin Shuiquan, who was reported by the family for scalding his daughter Xiaqiurong with boiling water, is still under detention.
In the letter, Lin Shuiquan earnestly sought Xiaqiurong's forgiveness. "We asked Xiaqiurong if she could forgive him, and she nodded slightly and then didn't speak anymore." "The judge should sentence him as he sees fit; it's what he deserves." When mentioning her brother Lin Shuiquan, Lin Tianyun said this. But she added that no matter what Lin Shuiquan did, he is still her brother and Xiaqiurong's father. She hopes that after serving his sentence, Lin Shuiquan can reform himself, take good care of Xiaqiurong, and fulfill the responsibilities of a father.
Lin Tianyun mentioned that after Xiaqiurong was discharged, although it was only a 15-minute drive away, her mother Xu Liankai never came to see her daughter. Because they needed to handle Xiaqiurong's household registration, her grandfather once drove a motorcycle with her to her mother's house. Her grandmother said that upon hearing she was going to her mother's house, Xiaqiurong seemed unhappy and initially refused to go, but eventually went anyway. "When her mother saw her skin scalded like that, she cried, and Xiaqiurong cried along with her."
But now, even with the elders' best efforts to persuade her, Xiaqiurong refuses to visit her mother's house again.
