Sina Technology News, February 5th morning (Beijing Time) - Facebook's JavaScript Application Programming Interface (API) experienced a failure on Friday in the U.S., causing website functions including "Like", comments, and some applications to be unavailable for a period of time.
The JavaScript API failure lasted for at least an hour. Facebook's developer blog stated: "Currently, the JavaScript Software Development Kit (SDK) has been restored. We are carrying out repairs. After obtaining more information, we will update the status in real-time."
Thousands of developers in Facebook's developer community were affected by this failure to varying degrees, such as applications like Turntable.fm, Quora, and TinyChat being unable to log in through Facebook.
One developer said: "This is the longest downtime of the Facebook API that I have ever seen." Currently, the "Like" and comment functions have been restored. (Weijin)
