Beijing: Stepping into Private School, Reliving Sinology CCTV.com News (60 Minutes): In the past two years, Sinology has been very popular in China. Sinology programs are widely broadcasted on TV, and Sinology books are bestsellers in bookstores. During the National Day Golden Week, top teachers from Tianjin provide one-on-one personalized extracurricular tutoring in Sinology and enterprise management training. Meanwhile, some parents in Beijing bring their children to private schools to relive the classics of Sinology.
Despite it being the Golden Week holiday, and despite the unfavorable weather with drizzling rain, this did not diminish the enthusiasm of parents and children for learning Sinology. Early in the morning, the Beijing Confucius Temple and Imperial Academy were already filled with the sounds of reading aloud.
The class currently in session consists of young children. This is their first lesson in Sinology - "Di Zi Gui" (Standards for Being a Good Student).
Ji Jiejing, Director of the Chengxian Sinology Institute at the Beijing Confucius Temple and Imperial Academy: First, we need to learn "Di Zi Gui," because it is the most fundamental standard for being a person.
The teacher's explanation was meticulous, and the children listened attentively. However, it was clear that they could not fully absorb all the information.
On one side, the children are learning "Di Zi Gui." On the other side, the parents are also busy, studying Sinology content synchronized with their children.
Parent: He learns here, and I also learn there. There is a point of convergence, making it easier to exchange ideas when we return home.
After enrollment, children mainly learn ancient classic texts such as "Di Zi Gui," "Qianziwen," and "Sanzi Jing," in addition to learning some auxiliary courses like singing ancient poems. In the future, they will also explore areas such as traditional Chinese medicine, martial arts, and folk music.
Parent: It seems that the current social atmosphere is somewhat restless. We believe that children should learn more of these essence-rich materials, which can help improve their self-cultivation. Many excellent traditions of our country are being lost. If children start learning these things from a young age, it may play a good role in the inheritance of tradition.
Ji Jiejing, Director of the Chengxian Sinology Institute at the Beijing Confucius Temple and Imperial Academy: Traditional culture is classic culture, refined over thousands of years. What has been passed down is definitely a classic. Through our teaching and promotion, we want people to understand that China has such an excellent culture, fostering a sense of national pride.
