**Symptoms:** When starting up and entering the system interface, clicking on anything does not open it. You have to wait for about a minute before anything can be opened.
**Solutions:**
1. **First**, please update your antivirus software's virus database and perform a full system scan to rule out any virus-related issues.
2. Click **Start → Run**, type in "msconfig" → OK. In the System Configuration Utility that opens, disable some non-essential services and startup programs, then restart your computer.
3. Go to **My Computer** —— **Tools** —— **Folder Options** —— **View**, and uncheck the option for "Automatically search for network folders and printers."
4. After Windows XP starts and enters the desktop, the system may pause temporarily, during which launching any program will not respond. This is because the DHCP Client service in Windows XP is assigning an IP address to the network card, causing the system to pause temporarily. To resolve this issue, go to **Desktop → My Network Places → Right-click → Properties → Network Connections**, right-click on the "Local Area Connection" icon, then select Properties. In the popped-up Properties window under the "General" tab, select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list, and click the "Properties" button. In the next Properties window, select the "Use the following IP address" option, and input "192.168.0.1" for the "IP Address" and "255.255.255.0" for the "Subnet Mask" (the specific IP address should be determined based on your actual situation), and finally click OK to exit the settings window.
Alternatively, go to **Start → Settings → Network Connections → Right-click "Local Area Connection" → Properties → Double-click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)"**. If the IP address is blank, select "Use the following IP address" and specify the IP address and subnet mask. For example, you can set the IP address to 192.168.0.X (where X is any value between 1 and 255), and set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. Click OK → OK.
5. **Clear the Prefetch folder**: Navigate to the C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch folder, delete all files with the .pf extension, and restart your computer.
