Bandits Kidnap 10-Year-Old Boy, Demand Sky-High Ransom of 8 Million

China News Service, Taiyuan, May 12th (Lü Wei and Wei Liang) - On May 12th, it was learned from the Taiyuan Public Security Bureau of Shanxi Province that the Guxiao Public Security Bureau had cracked a major kidnapping and extortion case and dismantled a criminal gang that had been committing crimes such as kidnapping, robbery, and causing harm for a long time.

According to reports, at around 8:00 am on May 4th, the Guxiao Public Security Bureau received an alarm from the victim Mr. Liu, who claimed that his 10-year-old son had been kidnapped by someone demanding a ransom of 8 million yuan.

After receiving the report, the detectives of the Guxiao Criminal Investigation Team formed a special investigation team. In order to ensure the safety of the hostage, the investigation work was carried out in secret. After investigation, they determined that the suspects had fled to Suide County in Shaanxi Province with their vehicle.

After negotiating with the kidnappers, at around 1:00 pm on May 6th, the police successfully rescued the hostage in a small inn in Madawan Village, Yuyang District, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. They also arrested one of the suspects, Ma Mou (male, 25 years old, from Majia Gutuo Village, Jizhen Town, Suide County, Shaanxi Province). On the same afternoon, the other four members of the gang, Yan Mou, Wang Mou, etc., were captured in Yan'an, Guxiao, Yulin, and other places. The police seized a Toyota Highlander SUV, a fake pistol, an axe, a dagger, and other tools used in the crime.

It has now been confirmed that on April 26, 2011, after conspiring together, the suspect Ma Mou and others came to Guxiao and conducted surveillance outside a primary school for several days. At 7:30 am on May 4th, they abducted a 10-year-old boy from the third grade outside the school and demanded a ransom of 8 million yuan from his mother over the phone. They then drove onto the expressway from Qingxu County and went directly to Suide County, Shaanxi Province.

It was also found that since February 2011, Ma Mou and others had committed numerous robberies and thefts in Suide, Shenmu, Yulin, Wuqi in Shaanxi Province, Lüliang, Lishi in Shanxi Province, Sanhe in Hebei Province, and other areas, committing more than ten serious crimes, involving a total amount of over 500,000 yuan.

Currently, all five suspects involved in the case have been criminally detained by the Guxiao Public Security Bureau, and the case is still under further review.
