A modern career woman, full of contemporary sensibilities, independent and self-reliant, with thoughts and vision, good at observing people’s expressions, smart and perceptive, able to weigh pros and cons, carrying a touch of modern reality, she is a white-collar beauty. After working in the office for three years, she gets into an argument with her boyfriend which leads to their breakup during which she encounters an accident and time travels to the Kangxi era of the Qing dynasty. Initially, she behaves rather rashly and courageously in ancient times but relies on her rich modern knowledge, sensitive and detailed observation and consideration, as well as her understanding of history, which helps her turn danger into safety many times. She uses her young girl identity to protect herself with her lively and spirited demeanor. She is cautious in thought, steady and meticulous in dealing with matters. In the Eight Prince’s mansion and after entering the palace, she becomes more thorough and calm in handling affairs, not easily achieving success, nor easily deceived by surface appearances. She is a rational yet emotional woman who values friendship and upholds righteousness. When her friends are in trouble, she will risk her life to protect them.
The Eighth Prince, with his clear and graceful demeanor and adept at handling all situations, made Ruoxi admire him. Added to this, she learns that he has a deep affection for her sister, who, however, has her heart set on someone else and shares the same bed but different dreams, making Ruoxi develop love out of pity. Calm and reserved, with hidden depths. The Ninth Son of Emperor Kangxi, supporting the Eighth Prince Yunzhen and the Fourteenth Prince Yunzhen to achieve their ambitions. Among all the princes, he is known for his wealth. With him, there is ample funding for activities. In the later years of Emperor Kangxi, Yunqi was at a disadvantage, often scolded and stripped of his title by Emperor Kangxi. Yunqi carried poison with him to prove his loyalty to Yunzhen. After the Fourth Prince ascended the throne, Yunqi began to suffer misfortune, and even the maid Yutan placed in the palace was steamed to death.

Compared to other princes, the Tenth Prince lacks extraordinary talent and neither military nor political strategy, but he sincerely cherishes his lovers and friends, guarding his brothers with simplicity and purity. His sincere feelings are the purest among all the princes. The Tenth Prince is the only one who has no benefit calculation for Ruoxi and protects her wholeheartedly.

Emperor Kangxi (played by Liu Songren)
Severe, wise, psychologically cautious, and mentally calm, a wise monarch for the country and its people. Upon first meeting Ruoxi, he was deeply impressed by her intelligence and eloquence. Later, seeing Ruoxi's serious research on her tea-serving duties, he admired her greatly. Throughout his life, he commanded politics decisively, but hesitated in the matter of succession, leading to decades of intrigue among the princes for the crown prince position, cultivating the historically famous "Nine Sons' Struggle for Succession."
Liu Xinyou
Marter Tai Ruolan (played by Liu Xinyou)
Graceful and noble, serene and gentle, generous and proper, understanding and reasonable. She also had bright moments in her youth, being with her childhood sweetheart.
