Generally speaking, this driver is part of the I-MIX family and doesn’t quite have the square look as the FT-IQ Driver but more of a rounded back. The specs of them are similar to the Callaway FT-IQ Driver. The FT-9 Driver still has a very high MOI which will help keep me straight. Moreover, the FT-9 driver was used on tour. Thinking that I could use the same category driver with my idol, Mizuno MX-25 Iron Set with Graphite, I really feel very excited.
The FT-9 Tour edition has a face angle that is 1° open, which should appeal to fast-swinging players who prefer to fade their tee shots rather than hit a draw. The FT-9 Tour will be offered in lofts of 8.5°, 9.5° and 10.5°, and according to Callaway, it produces a lower, more penetrating ball flight for more accomplished players. The stock shaft for both drivers is a Fujikura ZCOM.
I have tried many drivers and this Callaway FT-9 driver by far is the best! I am hitting the ball 25-30 yards further than my old driver Taylormade R5. Even on miss hits the ball is still out 240-260 yards off the tee.
This Discount Golf Equipment looks and sounds super slick, and you might even say a bit conservative considering the market today, but it is loaded with as much tech as any other offering, including raw ball speed. There is nothing wrong with the FT iq, and I know some of you say you prefer it, but I did find it shorter for my swing. Not much, but I need every yard I can get, while staying straight.
The Fusion Design and new Hyperbolic Face Technology, helps to increase overall ball speeds across the entire clubface of the Discount Golf Clubs, which enables we golfers to be more adventurous with their shot making. However, the most exciting addition to the Callaway FT-9 Driver is the OptiFit weighting system. This gives golfers a choice of 2 center of gravity locations depending on your natural swing type. When you combine all of these features together in the FT-9 Driver you are left with a club that enables you to hit fades, draws, and long penetrating drives.
Despite the FT-9 driver being a club that’s quite easy to work, I found the overall accuracy and forgiveness of the FT-9 to be quite reliable. The performance was relatively similar to the FT-5 Callaway Driver, Titleist 909F2 Fairway Wood, and a good amount of straight towering drives were there to be seen.
