The safety switch, also known as the lid switch, has two functions:
(1) During the dehydration process, if you need to stop the machine halfway and open the washer lid, the safety switch will disconnect the corresponding circuit, causing the motor to stop rotating and activating the brake mechanism to quickly stop the spin basket.
(2) If the clothes in the spin basket are unbalanced and cause an overload, severe vibrations may occur during the dehydration process. When these vibrations exceed a certain limit, the outer water container will touch the lever on the safety switch, which in turn moves the movable spring plate on the switch, cutting off the circuit of the dehydration motor and stopping the motor from turning. A common fault with the safety switch is poor contact at the terminals. When repairing it, you can use needle-nose pliers to slightly adjust the contact spring plates, ensuring that the upper and lower spring plates maintain an appropriate distance.
If the issue is due to the small slider underneath not moving smoothly, resulting in poor or no contact, then a little grease can be applied outside the slide path.
