LG Washing Machine Repair Discussion; Inspection of the Water Level Switch

The water level switch is used in agitator-type fully automatic washing machines to control the amount of water in the wash tub. If the water level switch is set to high water level, but the water filling stops before reaching the high water level, it indicates that the spring pressure is low and the air pressure that the valve core can withstand is also low, causing the reed switch to act prematurely and cut off the power supply to the electromagnetic inlet water valve. In this case, you can rotate the screw clockwise to increase the water level. However, when adjusting, you should adjust while experimenting to avoid excessive adjustment which could lead to malfunction. When the electromagnetic inlet water valve fills water up to a certain water level, if the agitator still cannot operate, it suggests that there is a fault with the water level switch. The main reasons are as follows:

(1) Air leakage in the pneumatic tube. After checking and confirming air leakage in the pneumatic tube, the original fixing spring can be replaced. Disconnect the pneumatic tube, apply 401 adhesive at the connection, reinstall the spring, and it will be ready for use after one day.

(2) Blockage in the pneumatic tube. After checking and confirming blockage in the pneumatic tube, clear the blocked area using fine wire until the airflow is smooth. When dealing with a blocked air hole in the water level switch, caution must be exercised to avoid damaging the rubber membrane inside the switch, so as to prevent permanent damage caused by human error.

(3) Damage to the reed contacts inside the water level switch, in which case the water level switch needs to be replaced. If all the above items are normal but the agitator still does not operate, it indicates that the rubber membrane inside the switch has aged. In this situation, the water level switch also needs to be replaced.
