Whirlpool Washing Machine Repair Technology Q&A; Washing machine dehydration shaft follows and rotates.
Analysis and Inspection: For drum-type washing machines, during washing, when the washing shaft rotates forward, the brake band is in a friction-tightening state, so the dehydration shaft should not follow and rotate. The reasons for the dehydration shaft following and rotating during washing can be: the brake band has come loose, the brake band is severely worn or broken, or there are oil stains on the contact surface between the brake band and the brake wheel. When the washing shaft rotates backward, the brake band is in a spring-tightened state, making it easier for the dehydration shaft to follow and rotate. To prevent this from happening, in addition to using the brake band for braking, there is also a torsion spring set on the clutch. When the washing shaft rotates backward, the torsion spring is in a tightened state, preventing the rotation of the dehydration bucket. Upon inspection, the brake band was found to be normal with good contact surfaces between the brake band and the brake wheel. However, it was discovered that the torsion spring was broken, losing its function of preventing the dehydration shaft from following and rotating.
