The Bao'an traffic police detachment called Wang Fengli and required him to immediately drive the car with license plate number粤BC9188 to the Bao'an traffic police detachment for investigation. Wang Fengli agreed to go at once, but later returned to his post due to being unable to ask for leave while on duty, and waited for the police officers of the Bao'an traffic police detachment to come.
That night, the investigating police officers went to the Gongming traffic police station and took Wang Fengli and his car back for investigation. After receiving education from the discipline inspection personnel of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau Traffic Police Detachment, defendant Wang Fengli truthfully confessed all criminal facts.
Finally, the court sentenced him guilty of traffic accident crime and sentenced to three years in prison.
On January 3, 2010 at 1 p.m., defendant Wang Fengli called someone to take the involved vehicle to Dongsen Repair Shop for maintenance. On January 5, defendant Wang Fengli created a fake accident scene on Xitian section of Beihuan Road in Gongming, and personally issued a "Quick Processing Form."
After the traffic accident, Wang Fengli left the scene directly. The people passing by immediately reported the incident and timely called the emergency number at 21:43. At 21:54, Zou Weixian was sent to Longhua People's Hospital in Shenzhen. He died after ineffective rescue treatment on January 5, 2010.
Wang Fengli, male, born on November 11, 1982, was a police officer of the Gongming Station under the Guangming Detachment of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau Traffic Police Corps at the time of the incident.
Our reporter in Shenzhen (reporter Wang Na, correspondent Dai Hai, photography report) - A traffic policeman in Shenzhen drove a BMW car under the influence of alcohol and hit a pedestrian to death. He then fled and created a fake accident scene in an attempt to evade legal punishment, causing a serious impact. Yesterday, Bao'an Court of Shenzhen made a judgment on this case. Former traffic policeman Wang Fengli was found guilty of traffic accident crime and sentenced to three years in prison.
According to the court's investigation, on the evening of January 2, 2010, Wang Fengli attended a friend's wedding banquet in Guangming New Area of Shenzhen. After drinking, he drove a 1998 model white BMW 528i sedan with license plate number粤BC9188 back to his residence. Around 21:30, Wang Fengli drove to the intersection of Bayi Road and Renmin Road in Longhua Subdistrict, Bao'an District, where he hit the victim Zou Weixian who was walking on the motor vehicle lane of the section.
The Bao'an Court believed that Wang Fengli caused one death by driving under the influence of alcohol and fled the scene after the incident, bearing full responsibility for the accident. His behavior has constituted the crime of traffic accident. As a traffic policeman, Wang Fengli fled after causing a traffic accident while driving under the influence of alcohol. After fleeing, he destroyed evidence, causing serious social impact. His improper handling behavior after the traffic accident reflects a certain degree of subjective malice. Although it is recognized that he surrendered himself, his performance in terms of initiative in surrendering and timeliness in confession is not typical enough. Therefore, the court decided not to reduce his punishment and also not to consider applying for probation.
Accordingly, the investigating police officers of the Bao'an traffic police detachment immediately contacted the owner of the car, Wang Hanming, and requested assistance in investigating the traffic accident case. Wang Hanming relayed the message to his son Wang Fengli, who then voluntarily called the Bao'an traffic police detachment.
On the afternoon of January 13, 2010, the traffic police detachment of Shenzhen Public Security Bureau received an anonymous tip from the public, stating that a white BMW car with license plate number粤BC9188 was suspicious and might be related to the traffic accident escape case on Bayi Road in Longhua Subdistrict on January 2, 2010.
After receiving instructions at around 21:45 on January 2, 2010, the Bao'an traffic police detachment rushed to the scene for investigation. By the morning of January 3, they determined that the fragments left at the accident scene belonged to a white BMW Series 3 E46 produced between 2003 and 2004, specifically the low configuration models 318i and 325i. They advertised for assistance in investigation until January 12, but there was no progress in the investigation after continuous round-the-clock comprehensive net-like screening.
After Wang Fengli was arrested, he entrusted his family members to actively compensate the family of the victim Zou Weixian. A total compensation of 600,000 yuan was paid, and both parties reached a reconciliation agreement. The family of the victim issued a letter of understanding, requesting the court not to pursue the criminal responsibility of defendant Wang Fengli.
