Incident Hotel
Zeng Donghai, who works at Longtousi Train Station, never expected that his mischievous 3-year-old son picking a flower in the hotel lobby would lead to disaster: his wife was beaten to death by the hotel manager and others. After the incident, although the murderer has been criminally detained, all he is left with is endless grief and the heavy responsibility of raising his two adorable children. Yesterday, the deceased's family demanded 280,000 yuan in compensation, but the hotel refused. Currently, the police of the Hi-Tech Zone have intervened in the investigation and handling of the case.
Three-year-old Child Picks Flower and Gets Scolded
The woman who was beaten to death was named Tian Jiafang. She was 34 years old and lived in Zhao Town, Jintang County, Chengdu City. Two years ago, she came to Chongqing with her husband Zeng Donghai. At the time of the incident, she was selling tickets at Longtousi Train Station.
Yesterday, Zeng Donghai, Tian's husband, tearfully introduced that around 3 PM on August 1st this year, his wife was taking their 3-year-old son while selling tickets opposite the ticket hall of Longtousi Train Station at the "Jin Xiang Ge Business Hotel." Suddenly, his son ran into the hotel lobby alone and mischievously picked a flower. At this point, a female waitress scolded him harshly and drove him out. "The child was scared to tears," a witness told the reporter.
Mother Argues and Gets Beaten to Death
Subsequently, Tian Jiafang, the child's mother, stepped forward to argue with the female waitress. In mutual accusations, Tian Jiafang and the other party started fighting. After the other party "lost," they were furious and said they would find a way to deal with Tian Jiafang.
At around 9 PM that evening, Tian continued looking for business near the hotel. At this point, the female waitress who was previously beaten saw the situation and informed the hotel manager, Mr. Zeng. Mr. Zeng then led four female waitresses to intercept Tian at the hotel entrance. During the fight, Tian was beaten to the ground. A witness said that after falling, Tian sat up, but after a few seconds, she fell back down on her back. "Quickly send her to the hospital, someone might die," the onlookers shouted loudly.
Tian's relatives rushed to the scene and quickly sent her to the nearby Northern New District Hi-Tech Park People's Hospital for emergency treatment. According to the attending doctor, Tian was diagnosed with severe brain injury, and the hospital immediately issued a critical condition notice. The next day at 0:55 AM, Tian died due to respiratory and circulatory failure. Her body is still at the Yubei Funeral Home awaiting cremation.
Claiming 280,000 Yuan Compensation Rejected
After the incident, the station front police station of the Hi-Tech Zone quickly arrived at the scene to handle the situation and took the hotel manager Mr. Zeng and others back to the station for investigation. According to the police, Mr. Zeng has currently been criminally detained, and the case is still under further investigation and handling.
The deceased's husband, Zeng Donghai, said that his wife was usually very kind and virtuous, speaking softly. "We went to the police station to review the video footage. From 20:38:20 to 20:39:10 on August 1st, the entire process lasted less than a minute. A group of people beat Jiafang until she couldn't move," Zeng Donghai choked up, wiping away the tears from the corner of his eyes with the back of his hand. Afterwards, they proposed a compensation demand of 280,000 yuan, but the other party claimed this demand was too high and refused to compensate. They also expressed that they would actively negotiate and handle the matter.

Witnesses Claim the Manager Boasted of Spending 2 Million Yuan to Buy a Life
Yesterday at noon, the reporter came to the scene of the incident for investigation and interviews. In the hotel lobby, the reporter saw that two sofas and two coffee tables were placed in the center of the not-so-spacious lobby. A pot of plastic lotus flowers was placed at the entrance, and there was also a patch of "bright" plastic red flowers at the front desk. It was introduced that the 3-year-old son of the deceased, Tian Jiafang, was driven out after picking that plastic red flower. During the reporter's recording interview, many witnesses present introduced that after the incident, the hotel owner had boasted saying, "It's no big deal to spend 2 million yuan to buy a life."
In response, a supervisor surnamed Nie from the hotel, during the reporter's recorded interview, said, "The claim about spending 2 million yuan to buy a life is completely baseless; the boss can't be that stupid." He stated that after the incident, the involved waitresses were actively cooperating with the police investigation. Their current priority is to do well in coordinating communication and compensation work with the deceased's family. He mentioned that the compensation amount is estimated to be not far off from the 280,000 yuan proposed by the deceased's family. They are currently further coordinating. As for the criminal aspect, judicial authorities will conduct investigations and handle it accordingly.
