Interview with the woman who posted online (sitting in the middle, holding a baby)
Check on the child
Yesterday, a woman surnamed Huang from Liangshan, Shandong Province was found selling a baby online. This information was discovered by an internet user named "Zaizai," who promptly communicated with Huang via QQ and eventually reached an agreement to conduct the transaction at Zhengzhou Railway Station. After journalists obtained this information, they immediately contacted the railway station division of the Zhengzhou Public Security Bureau, and the police took Huang away.
Woman sells male infant online
In a text message to the reporter, "Zaizai" stated that three days ago, he discovered information about the sale of children on a website, along with a QQ number. "Zaizai," who has been closely following cases of child trafficking, began communicating with the other party. The other party claimed to be surnamed Huang, residing in Xinxiang, stating that the child was born to her sister. Due to family reasons, she did not want to raise the child and was willing to sell it for 15,000 yuan. "Zaizai" suspected that the other party might be a child trafficker and thus claimed that he was willing to buy the child. They agreed to meet in Zhengzhou.
Meeting the child in a fast-food restaurant
Yesterday morning, the reporter informed the police officers of the railway station division of the Zhengzhou Public Security Bureau about the matter. The police officers then made a phone call to "Zaizai" to further understand the situation.
At around 10 a.m., "Zaizai" sent a text message saying that Huang had already arrived at the train station. While the police were searching for Huang, "Zaizai" sent another text message saying that Huang had already brought the child to a fast-food restaurant. The reporter and plainclothes police officers went to the second floor of the fast-food restaurant and found the woman holding the baby.
Subsequently, the woman was taken to the railway station public security bureau.
Is the child her nephew?
At the railway station public security bureau, the woman admitted that she indeed was surnamed Huang and showed her ID, which indicated that she was from Liangshan County, Shandong Province. She claimed that the child belonged to her brother back home. Two months ago, when the boy was born, the doctor said that the child might have suffered oxygen deprivation during birth, potentially leading to intellectual disabilities as he grew up, making it difficult for her brother and sister-in-law to accept.
Huang has been doing business in Xinxiang. A week ago, the child's grandparents brought the child to Xinxiang, hoping to find a family with better conditions for the child. Huang said that she originally intended to give the child away for free, but when posting the information online, she thought that if it was free, the party wanting the child might mistakenly believe the child had a disease. Therefore, she listed the price at 15,000 yuan. Huang believed that asking for money was justified since giving birth to a child is not easy.
Brother and sister-in-law haven't had a child
On the medical birth certificate provided by Huang, it indeed stated that the child was born to her brother and sister-in-law. However, after the Henan police verified through the Shandong police, the identity of the child became a mystery.
According to the Shandong police, Huang's brother and sister-in-law, as well as their neighbors, all claimed that the brother and sister-in-law had not recently given birth to a child. Meanwhile, the information provided by the Shandong side indicated that the child was actually Huang's own, despite her being unmarried.
Faced with these inconsistencies, Huang insisted that the child belonged to her brother and sister-in-law and claimed that she had been married before and already had a child. The police believed that Huang was unwilling to reveal the child's background, possibly due to some hidden reason. The police told Huang that even if the child was hers, casually giving it away could constitute abandonment and violate the law. Huang expressed that she would no longer give the child away. After criticizing and educating her, the police allowed Huang to leave with the child.
