Tongchuan News (Correspondent Yan Yang) - Villager Chen from Peng Town in Yijun County made a homemade gun 13 years ago and kept it hidden in his home ever since. Recently, while hunting outside the village, Chen was reported by local residents. Following this, the local police lawfully placed him under criminal detention.
In early September, the Pianqiao Police Station of Yijun County Public Security Bureau received a tip-off from the public, stating that Chen, a villager from Changxia'an Village in Peng Town, had been frequently carrying a homemade gun to hunt around the village for nearly a month. After conducting investigations and interviews with some villagers, the police confirmed that Chen indeed possessed a homemade gun. Subsequently, the case-handling officers immediately proceeded to Chen's home. Through patient and detailed persuasion by the officers, Chen realized the dangers of illegally possessing firearms and handed over the concealed homemade gun.
According to Chen's confession, he purchased steel pipes, bolts, and other materials in 1997 to make the homemade gun, which he had hidden at home without using. Recently, seeing many pheasants and rabbits around the village, he took out the gun to hunt some game in the nearby mountains and fields.
Currently, the suspect Chen has been lawfully placed under criminal detention.
