Unexpectedly, he was attacked by two bandits. During the resistance, Zhong was strangled to death and thrown into an ancient well while Liu had his throat cut and was discarded in the grass. That afternoon, after receiving the emergency call, the Jiaozhou police quickly took action and started the emergency response plan for 110 emergencies. The police officers from the local station, criminal investigation officers, auxiliary police officers, and patrol team members worked together. Within an hour, they successfully captured the dangerous suspect Huang. Currently, the case is under further review and another suspect Sui is being actively pursued.
■ Emergency Call
A cry for help came from the park's bushes.
At about 2 pm on the afternoon of September 14, citizens walking in Jiaozhou Park suddenly heard cries for help coming from the bushes. They saw a young man lying in the bushes with blood continuously flowing from his neck. Seeing that the man was seriously injured, the citizens hurriedly called the police.
At 2:10 pm that day, after receiving the instruction from 110, Officer Wang Chunlin from the Fuan Police Station of the Jiaozhou Public Security Bureau immediately led people to rush to the scene. In less than two minutes, Officer Wang Chunlin and others arrived at the scene and found a young man covered in blood lying in the bushes. His trachea was cut, and his injuries were serious.
After a brief inquiry, the young man was named Liu, 22 years old, from Yanchang County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. He encountered bandits in Jiaozhou Park just now.
■ Incident
Meeting a netizen resulted in having his throat cut by bandits.
According to the investigating officer, during the questioning, they learned that at the time of the incident, Liu was dating his female netizen Zhong in the park when two bandits suddenly rushed up to rob them. During the resistance, his throat was cut by the bandits, and the whereabouts of the female netizen became unknown.
Considering the severity of the case, the investigating officer urgently sent Liu to the hospital for rescue and quickly reported the case to the bureau leadership. Within five minutes, Director Jin Ruimo of the Jiaozhou Public Security Bureau led the criminal investigation officers to the scene and quickly activated the rapid emergency response plan for 110. They organized the Fuan Police Station officers, auxiliary police officers, and criminal investigation officers to conduct a carpet-style search around the crime scene, looking for Zhong and hunting for the suspects. Meanwhile, they promptly informed all police stations and public security patrol teams in the urban area to strengthen patrols and external blockades in the urban area, working together to capture the suspects.
■ Pursuit
Full effort to catch one suspect
During the search for the murderer, auxiliary police officer Zhang Guoqiang noticed a man near the northern wall of Jiaozhou Park who was using a mineral water carton to collect things. This aroused his suspicion, so he quickly approached to inquire. Initially, the man claimed he was collecting specimens, but when asked about his unit name, the man stuttered and said he had something urgent and wanted to leave. Seeing this person as suspicious, Zhang Guoqiang revealed his identity to him. Upon hearing that he was an auxiliary police officer, the man picked up his belongings and ran away.
Seeing this, Zhang Guoqiang chased after him and quickly called Deputy Chief Li Hao of the Fuan Police Station, who was searching nearby, to organize personnel to pursue along the escape route of the suspicious man.
The suspicious man fled to Jiaozhou Road at the north gate of Jiaozhou Park and quickly got into a taxi. Seeing that the suspect was about to escape, Zhang Guoqiang shouted loudly: "He is a suspect, don't take him!" Hearing this, the taxi driver immediately stopped, and the suspicious man hastily jumped out of the taxi and continued to flee.
At around 3 pm that afternoon, patrol officers Yu Ketao and Zhao Yubing from the Jiaozhou Public Security Bureau's Urban Patrol Team happened to be patrolling nearby and saw the suspicious man. They immediately drove their motorcycles to chase after him. After chasing for about 20 meters, they intercepted the suspicious man and subdued him together with Zhang Guoqiang and the subsequently arrived Li Hao and others.
After a thorough search on the spot, the man carried a woman's bag containing a mobile phone and the ID photo of victim Zhong. The police then took the man back to the Fuan Police Station for interrogation. Subsequently, the police discovered a female corpse covered with broken straw mats and rubble in an ancient well about 600 meters north of the crime scene, next to the northern wall of the park. After retrieving and verifying, it was confirmed that the deceased was Zhong.
■ Confession
Robbery and murder followed by hiding the body in an ancient well
Upon interrogation, on September 12, suspect Huang came to Jiaozhou and looked for jobs with his netizen Sui. Normally, the two were idle and spent their time online at an internet cafe in Beiguan, Jiaozhou.
On September 14, due to running out of money for internet use, Huang conspired with Sui to rob people in Jiaozhou Park.
At around 1:30 pm on September 14, the two suspects spotted Liu and Zhong dating in the park and proceeded to rob them. They obtained 200 yuan in cash and a mobile phone. During the robbery, they severely injured Liu who tried to resist and directly strangled Zhong to death. After committing the crime, suspects Huang and Sui dragged Zhong's body to an ancient well next to the northern wall of the park to hide it and then returned to the Beiguan internet cafe to continue surfing the web. During the online session, worried that items left at the scene might leave evidence for the police to discover, Huang returned alone to clean up the crime scene, only to be discovered and captured by the police.
According to the investigating officer, in 2003, Huang was sentenced to two years in prison for robbery, and in 2005, he was sentenced to seven years in prison for robbery and theft. He was released early in May 2010.
