Wang Jian, 23 years old, got into a scuffle with two men. After stabbing them with a knife, he fled in panic. Upon learning that one of the men had died, Wang Jian went into hiding. Officers from the Taoqi Road Police Station accidentally learned about this incident during their "major outreach" and immediately began working through a mediator to persuade him to turn himself in. Eventually, they succeeded in convincing Wang Jian to return to Chengdu and surrender. Yesterday, reporters learned that Wang Jian had been handed over by the police station to the Longquanyi police who have jurisdiction over the location where the incident occurred.
On March 27, officers from the Taoqi Road Police Station learned during their "major outreach and public evaluation of police" activities while communicating with employees at a repair shop in their jurisdiction that the repair shop manager seemed hesitant to speak. After repeated inquiries, the manager revealed shocking news: "There used to be a young man here who was usually very honest, but unexpectedly stabbed someone with a knife. Now he's hiding outside, and I'm quite worried." The young man was named Wang Jian, who worked at the repair shop, and his girlfriend Yang worked at a massage parlor in the Longquanyi District. According to Yang, on the evening of March 20 at around 10 PM, two men with out-of-town accents came into the store for a massage. They were heavily intoxicated. Half an hour later, they suddenly decided to leave, but one of them refused to pay. An argument ensued, and one of the men grabbed an empty beer bottle, shouting loudly in the store: "Whoever dares to interfere will get it." Frightened, Yang called Wang Jian, hoping her boyfriend would come and pick her up. Wang Jian said, "As soon as I walked in, I was hit with a beer bottle and pinned down on the bed by the two men." In the struggle, Wang Jian managed to grab a fruit knife and stabbed at them. After the incident, Wang Jian and his girlfriend went into hiding due to fear. Two days later, when Wang Jian learned that one of the men had died, he hid in a cave in Yibin, not daring to come down from the mountain for seven days. He only turned on his phone occasionally to find acquaintances and inquire about the situation. By this time, he had already been listed as a "fugitive" by the local police on suspicion of intentional homicide.
These circumstances drew serious attention from Dai Bin, the chief of the Taoqi Road Police Station. "We cannot let him continue down the wrong path," he and other officers repeatedly explained the law and reasoned with the repair shop owner, hoping that the owner could establish a channel of communication with Wang Jian. Through the persistent efforts of the officers, at around 4 PM on March 30, Wang Jian returned to Chengdu accompanied by his girlfriend and immediately walked into the police station upon getting out of the car. "I want to surrender," he said, feeling a sense of relief after uttering those words. Yesterday, Chengdu Business Daily learned that Wang Jian has now officially been handed over to the Longquanyi police.
Currently, the police are still investigating the specifics of the case.
