According to the "China Radio News" report on February 17, a skier in Austria was trapped on a cable car and went unnoticed for six hours. During this time, he kept warm by burning his scarf and banknotes, and it was the flame from burning the notes that drew the attention of a staff member, eventually leading to his rescue.
This 22-year-old man from Munich, Germany, had gone skiing with friends in the Austrian Alps. Due to exhaustion, they decided to descend early. It was already close to evening when he boarded a cable car to go down the mountain. However, the cable car service had ceased operations and was only temporarily running for testing purposes. The passengers were not informed, and as a result, the man found himself stuck halfway. Trapped at an altitude where the temperature was minus eighteen degrees Celsius, he could neither call out to heaven nor earth for help. His only option was to burn his scarf and banknotes to keep warm.
As the man burned his last banknote, a staff member finally noticed the small flicker of light in the sky and came to his rescue.
