The May Day long weekend is approaching, and all the major scenic areas in our city are preparing to welcome tourists. Unexpectedly, at noon on the day before yesterday, the ticket booth and entrance of the Furong Ancient Village scenic area in Yantou Town, Yongjia County, were splashed with feces, an act that was truly excessive.
Visitor Mr. Chen said that when he arrived at Furong Ancient Village yesterday, the feces had already been cleaned up, but the smell around the ticket booth and entrance was still very strong. Mr. Chen said that no matter what kind of conflict there might be, this should not have happened, and with a large number of tourists coming to visit, the impact would be very negative.
An officer from the Yantou Police Station of the Yongjia County Public Security Bureau said that the incident occurred at around 12 p.m. the day before yesterday. According to eyewitnesses nearby, it was a woman who splashed feces at the ticket booth and entrance.
Teacher Bo learned after some inquiries that the woman is a tour guide for the Yongjia Nanxi River Furong Ancient Village Tourism Development Co., Ltd.
A manager surnamed Chen from the company said that the company was established in October last year, responsible for the tourism development and village protection of Furong Ancient Village. Due to various reasons, the company had not started operations until last week when they began trial operations and formulated some rules and regulations, one of which prohibited guides from privately soliciting tips from tourists.
"After the regulations were introduced, we found out that three tour guides were collecting tips from tourists while leading tours, and a ticketing staff member closed the ticket booth and went home without asking for leave. We decided to stop issuing salaries as punishment for these four individuals," Manager Chen explained. These four people considered the punishment too severe and refused to accept it, prompting the town government to intervene in mediation.
Deputy Town Mayor Mr. Sha from Yantou Town Government said that after mediation, the company agreed that if the four wrote letters of self-criticism acknowledging their mistakes and voluntarily accepted a one-day salary deduction, they could return to work. The ticketing staff wrote the letter of self-criticism and resumed work. However, the three tour guides believed the handling was inappropriate and refused to write letters of self-criticism.
Manager Chen said that on the morning of the incident, the company called these three tour guides for a discussion, but none of them showed up, saying they would not come back to work. Unexpectedly, by noon, a female tour guide surnamed Li came and splashed feces, according to zxy_Sina Blog.
Regarding Ms. Li's behavior, the police stated that they will impose penalties depending on the severity of the situation. Currently, the case is still under further investigation. This goes to show:
The penalized tour guide splashes feces,
The scenic spot window smells unbearable;
This behavior is truly excessive,
And her responsibility must be pursued.
