E-House Message (Chutian Metropolis Daily) (reported by Yuan Li, interns Zhang Linli, Li Yizhi, and Liu Yumeng): A boyfriend who was sitting beside his girlfriend in a net bar saw someone making a pass at her. The boyfriend gave the offender a glare, which ended up costing him his life: a group of men beat him to death. Yesterday, five men who were accused of intentional injury appeared in court for trial at the Wuhan Intermediate People's Court.
Zheng, Liu, Li, Chen, and Zhang are all from Jiangxia and unemployed. According to the indictment, at around 10 p.m. on February 6, the five of them went to a net bar on Jinkou Street in Jiangxia District. When they passed the cash register, they saw a young woman surfing the internet. Zheng reached out and touched her face, which was seen by Yi, the young woman's boyfriend sitting nearby.
Yi gave Zheng a glare, which resulted in Zheng slapping him. A fight ensued between the two parties. Liu, Li, Chen, and Zhang joined Zheng in punching and kicking Yi until he fell to the ground motionless, after which they fled the scene.
Yi was pronounced dead after being sent to the hospital, where he could not be revived. The forensic examination determined that Yi died from respiratory and circulatory failure caused by external force shaking his heart, stimulating the vagus nerve, and hindering his breathing.
After this serious case occurred, the police successively arrested Zheng, Liu, and Chen. Under pressure, the other two assailants, Li and Zhang, voluntarily surrendered themselves to the police. The prosecutor argued that all five individuals physically assaulted Yi, collectively causing his death, which constitutes joint criminality. They should be held criminally responsible for intentional injury.
The verdict for this case will be announced on another day.
