Sichuan News Network, Suining, May 18th (Reporters Zeng Changlin and Zhang Lie) - As the old saying goes: even a tiger doesn't eat its own cubs. However, on May 13th, a horrifying incident occurred in Chuanshan District of Suining City where a father brutally murdered his son: A man tied up his 10-year-old son with a rope, hung him from the beam, and then hacked him to death. When the police arrived, the man wildly shouted while wielding a knife: "Whoever dares to come over will be killed!"
The surrounding crowd said that this man was in his 30s, having had an eccentric temper since childhood. After his divorce, his temper became even more irascible, frequently beating and scolding family members. If neighbors tried to dissuade him, he would threaten to chop off someone's head. Currently, regarding whether this man suffers from mental illness, the police stated that it awaits judicial appraisal.
Alarm: A 10-year-old child was hacked to death by his father
At around 1 PM on May 13th, 2011, the police officers of Xinqiao Town Police Station received a directive from 110: a lunatic killing case occurred in Longchi Village’s Third Cooperative Society. Please respond! Upon receiving the alarm, the police officers of Xinqiao Town quickly arrived at the crime scene, which was Li Anquan's home in Longchi Village's Third Cooperative Society of Xinqiao Town.
At the scene, the police discovered that suspect Li Anquan's house was tightly shut. According to local villagers, Li Anquan had bound his 10-year-old biological son, Li Shifa, hand and foot with a rope, hanging him from the beam, leaving his life uncertain.
Due to the unclear situation inside the room, the police notified 120 to rush to the scene while organizing the surrounding crowd to prepare for breaking the door to save the boy. Just as the police were about to forcibly break the door, they suddenly saw suspect Li Anquan open the door, apparently wanting to go out to carry straw into the house.
Not good, he might set fire to the house! Six policemen seeing the situation turned unfavorable, suddenly rushed into the house. However, a shocking tragedy had already unfolded; suspect Li Anquan's 10-year-old son was lying in a pool of blood. Later, according to forensic examination, suspect Li Anquan's 10-year-old son had already died when the police arrived at the crime scene.
Seeing the police enter the house, suspect Li Anquan became even more frenzied, wildly waving an axe at the incoming police officers! He threatened: "Whoever dares to come up will be killed."
In order to subdue the frenzied Li Anquan, the police threw tear gas indoors. However, for the deranged Li Anquan, this seemed to have no effect whatsoever. To prevent Li Anquan from harming others again, the police persuaded him to drop the axe while slowly approaching him. Eventually, they cornered Li Anquan at another doorway.
Just as success was within sight, unexpectedly, suspect Li Anquan fled through the door, running madly towards the Qu River with his knife. The police pursued him relentlessly. Seeing that he could not escape the police's pursuit, Li Anquan jumped into the Qu River. After swimming about 400 meters, he finally ran out of strength, dropped the axe, and surrendered willingly.
Later confirmed by the 120 medical staff and the forensic examiner, suspect Li Anquan's 10-year-old son died on the spot. The deceased's body bore multiple wounds, having been slashed several times on the throat and buttocks, with the right hand bones shattered. The police revealed that Li Anquan used tools such as an axe and kitchen knife to commit the crime. Whether or not he suffered from mental illness requires judicial psychiatric evaluation to accurately determine.
Neighbor: Suspect had an eccentric temper since childhood, injuring people three times
According to the suspect's neighbors, Li Anquan is also known as Li Maolin, who is now in his 30s. He has had an eccentric temper since childhood. After his divorce, his temper became even more irascible, frequently physically abusing his family members. When he saw neighbors, he would threaten to chop off heads. Villagers were all afraid of him, keeping their distance whenever they saw him. They would close their doors before dusk and dared not move about easily.
Suspect Li Anquan was normal during his early years until after his divorce when he started showing signs of illness. The night before the incident, he was still cursing around with a knife on the road. Villagers said that he was generally quite good to his son, sometimes picking him up from school. On the gate of Li Anquan's house, reporters noticed some slanted Chinese characters written in ink: Happy Baby.
Neighbors mentioned that this was Li Anquan's third time injuring people. The first time, he injured a villager. The second time, he slashed his sister three times. The last time, he killed his 10-year-old son, Li Shifa. Li Anquan suffered from intermittent psychosis and had been hospitalized twice for treatment. However, due to limited family economic conditions, he was discharged slightly improved from the psychiatric hospital.
Villagers: Suspect is a mentally ill person, cannot let him return home
After the incident, local villagers generally responded that suspect Li Anquan was indeed a mentally ill person and should not be allowed to return home. This is not only for the safety of the local villagers but also for the safety of his parents.
Li Anquan's parents said that their lively grandson, who was so full of life just moments ago, was now lying in the cold morgue, making it hard for them to accept. Currently, there is no source of income left in their household. Moreover, Li Anquan's sister also suffers from mental illness. They do not know how to proceed with their future. An emotional villager said, "Do not let that lunatic return. Try to send these two elderly people to a nursing home and solve their living problems."
To understand Li Anquan's current condition, reporters visited Mingkang Hospital in Suining, where Li Anquan was being treated. It was learned that Li Anquan is still under control, but his manic emotions have yet to stabilize. Regarding the issue of Li Anquan's medical expenses, the hospital stated that impoverished patients receive civil affairs assistance, and the hospital will also waive part of the fees. Considering Li Anquan's family situation, discussions are ongoing with the civil affairs department regarding whether his sister can also be sent to the hospital for treatment.
