Han Han's crying startled the neighborhood. They called for Han Han’s mother, and some people helped pry open the iron gate. The mother quickly picked up Han Han and found that her clothes were torn, but there were no obvious external injuries. Upon learning of the incident, Han Han's father hurried back from work. Hearing his daughter's cries, he finally felt relieved.
On the evening of March 2nd, after school, Han Han went home and sat in the living room watching TV. Her mother was playing table tennis with someone on the vacant ground behind the building, so she locked the door and left Han Han alone at home. After finishing watching TV, Han Han couldn't find her mother and couldn't open the door, so she climbed onto the windowsill which was about her height to look around. Since there was no guardrail installed outside the window, Han Han accidentally fell off the windowsill. She was partially cushioned by a rain canopy installed downstairs, then landed on a wooden rack pavilion behind the building, and finally fell onto the soil ground. There was an iron gate with locks on the rack pavilion, and Han Han cried out "Mommy" while lying on the iron gate.
The family quickly took Han Han to the hospital for examination. The results from Huashi Town Hospital showed that apart from some slight abrasions on her back, no abnormalities were found. Due to the limited medical conditions at Huashi Town Hospital, they were unable to perform a CT scan to check if Han Han's head was injured. Subsequently, they transferred her to Xiangtan County People's Hospital. Further examinations revealed that the little girl was generally unharmed, with only minor bruising and soft tissue damage to her head. Currently, Han Han's condition has stabilized, and she is under observation and treatment in the hospital.
At 11:00 AM yesterday, in the Xiangtan County People's Hospital ward, a little girl with pigtails was lying in bed watching cartoons, giggling occasionally. With her chubby face rosy and white, the little girl named Han Han is five years old. On the evening of March 2nd, Han Han was alone at home when her mother locked the door. To find her mother, she accidentally fell from the fifth-floor windowsill but fortunately sustained only minor injuries.
Doctor Liu Guochun from the Neurosurgery Department of Xiangtan County People's Hospital analyzed that the key reason for Han Han's luck was that her head wasn't severely injured. Additionally, during the fall, due to obstructions between the first to fourth floors, she eventually landed on the wooden rack pavilion, allowing her body to be cushioned. Moreover, the vacant land behind the building was soft soil rather than hard cement pavement, which also protected Han Han.
Doctors remind parents that it is best to bring children along when going out and not leave them alone at home. If it is inconvenient to bring children out, proper protective measures must be taken at home. For those living in high-rise buildings, installing guardrails is recommended to prevent accidents involving children. Reported by Li Zhihong.
