Yesterday morning, about 300 meters north of the Kandan supervised crossing in Fengtai District, a woman was hit and killed by a train, according to reporter Li Xiaodong.
According to Beijing News (reporter Li Xiaodong), at around 8:10 am yesterday, a woman was hit and killed by a train traveling from Baotou to Tianjin, about 300 meters north of the Kandan supervised crossing in Fengtai District. The Beijing Railway Police confirmed that the deceased was a female of unknown identity, and the details of the accident are still under investigation.
At around 10:00 am yesterday, the woman who was hit lay next to the railway tracks. She was about 40 years old and wore a black and white floral top. The railway police were investigating the scene at the time. At around 11:00 am, an ambulance arrived at the scene and transported the body away.
Mr. Peng, who lives near the railway, said that at around 8:10 am, when he went outside, he heard the train whistle followed by sharp braking sounds. A woman standing on the railway tracks was hit and thrown off by the train. After hitting the woman, the train slid for another two or three meters before stopping. When the train whistled, it seemed like the woman didn't hear it. She jumped down from the tracks and then back onto them repeatedly several times.
A staff member at the Kandan supervised crossing stated that the train involved was heading from Baotou to Tianjin and usually passed through the Kandan crossing at 8:00 am. However, yesterday, the train did not pass through the Kandan crossing until 8:29 am.
Yesterday morning, a railway police officer mentioned that the railway safety department is currently investigating the details of the accident and has yet to contact the train driver. The identity of the deceased is still unknown, and it is uncertain whether it was a suicide or related to mental health issues.
