The true emergence of HTPC is due to the promotion of the digital home concept. Many people have long believed that domestic audio-visual PCs are HTPCs, but in fact, these audio-visual PCs can only be considered as the prototype of HTPC. Starting from the second half of last year, the concept of HTPC began to be officially introduced to China. HTPC not only aims to replace the position of DVD players, but also needs to be as compact and lightweight as a DVD player, with a simple operation process and powerful video and audio processing capabilities. Currently, the "box" products launched by domestic manufacturers such as Shanda and Changhong can be defined as HTPC, but they are not fully-fledged HTPCs. This is because, whether in terms of hardware configuration or supporting software, there is still a gap compared to the mature HTPC products abroad.
