Uncle Ou, who is over 60 years old, is a retiree from Haizhu District of Guangzhou. He refers to himself as an elder who loves to "mind other people's business". Indeed, because of his love for meddling in others' affairs, he encountered something that made him extremely angry and left him with mixed feelings.
Yesterday afternoon, I contacted the relevant person in charge of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau handling this matter. According to him, the involved police officer has indeed been ordered to write a self-examination report. Meanwhile, all relevant departments are required to take this as a lesson, reflect deeply, correct their work attitude and style, and establish a good image. They should bravely face citizens' supervision and criticism and provide timely feedback and handling.

Uncle Ou said that at the time, he was extremely angry, "He uses public vehicles for private purposes and dares to swear at me? As a citizen of Guangzhou, do I not have the right to supervise official vehicles?" With a restless heart, Uncle Ou immediately called the complaint hotline of the Guangzhou Discipline Inspection and Supervision Department that he often saw on TV.

Outraged by witnessing the misuse of public vehicles
Uncle Ou, who is over 60 years old, never expected that just one sentence - "When will the misuse of public vehicles end?" - would result in a police officer swearing at him. Even more unexpected was that after filing a complaint with relevant authorities out of anger, he received a response and resolution within less than five minutes. Yesterday, when the relevant person in charge of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau personally apologized to Uncle Ou and stated that the involved police officer had already been ordered to conduct a written self-examination, Uncle Ou expressed that the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau handled the matter sincerely and efficiently, truly valuing public opinion.
Upon learning about this feedback, Uncle Ou felt comforted. What he did not anticipate was that shortly afterward, the relevant person in charge of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau also called, "They first apologized to me verbally and simultaneously expressed that they would bring the involved police officer to apologize in person." Uncle Ou was overwhelmed with emotions, realizing that what he originally thought was a trivial matter actually received such significant attention.

At 1:30 PM yesterday, the department leader of the involved police officer again called Uncle Ou, stating that the leadership of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau highly valued this incident and thanked Uncle Ou for the supervision and criticism. At 3:30 PM yesterday, the relevant leadership of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau personally visited to apologize and indicated that they had already ordered the involved police officer to conduct a written self-examination.
The hotline staff listened patiently to Uncle Ou's recounting filled with anger while comforting him to stabilize his emotions. On the other hand, they assured that the matter would be immediately fed back to relevant departments and leaders. "The hotline staff had an excellent attitude, using gentle language and listening patiently to my complaints," Uncle Ou said. After hanging up the phone, within less than five minutes, the hotline staff called back to inform him that after verification, the official vehicle Uncle Ou mentioned belonged to the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau, and the man who swore at him was also a police officer from a certain department of the bureau.
Feedback received within 5 minutes of the complaint
After the telephone apology from the relevant person in charge of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau, unexpectedly, at around 4:50 PM that day, the relevant person in charge of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau personally visited Uncle Ou to apologize. Uncle Ou said that the involved police officer also came along and sincerely apologized to him, asking for his understanding.
In October 2007, on bus No. 226 on Chigang Road, a boy was making a call with a quite nice-looking mobile phone when it was snatched by a thug. Uncle Ou and the passengers on the bus subdued the thug and handed him over to the Jianghai Street Police Station. In November, the Guangzhou Foundation for Brave Deeds once again awarded Uncle Ou a certificate.

"Just because I said 'When will the misuse of public vehicles end?', I actually encountered the involved police officer swearing at me." At 4 PM yesterday, in Uncle Ou's home on Nanyuan Street in Haizhu District, he recounted the scene of the incident to me: Around 4:15 PM on April 8, while going to the market to buy vegetables and passing by a police dormitory about a hundred meters away from his home, he saw a father and daughter get out of a car with a Yue O license plate. The girl was wearing a school uniform. Uncle Ou muttered, "When will the misuse of public vehicles end?" Upon hearing this, the man turned around and glared at Uncle Ou. Subsequently, after sending his daughter home and coming back downstairs, the man suddenly confronted Uncle Ou, loudly shouting and cursing profusely. Immediately, the two engaged in a verbal spat. Yesterday afternoon at the scene of the incident, several neighbors and nearby shop owners confirmed to me the situation described by Uncle Ou.
In 2003, on bus No. 87, a thug snatched a woman's handbag and necklace. After the bus driver stopped at a station, Uncle Ou jumped off the bus and chased the thug. After chasing for a kilometer, with the help of surrounding people, he subdued the thug. He handed the thug over to the Fengyang Street Police Station and assisted the police in taking statements. For this, Uncle Ou received a "Brave Deed" certificate.
Three personal apologies from the Public Security Bureau leadership
It was Saturday yesterday, but upon receiving the message, the relevant person in charge of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau still sent someone to apologize to Uncle Ou again, "Around 10:30 AM, they came with fruits and consolatory items, unfortunately, Old Ou wasn't home at that time." Uncle Ou's sister told reporters that only she and her 86-year-old mother were at home then. The two of them accepted the apology on behalf of Uncle Ou and highly praised the attitude and behavior of the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau in handling this matter.
"In fact, after receiving the apology call from the relevant person in charge of the Municipal Bureau, I was no longer angry. Who doesn't make mistakes? Knowing one's fault and correcting it so quickly and decisively truly makes one feel that the Guangzhou Supervisory Department and the Guangzhou Public Security Bureau genuinely value public opinion and implement measures promptly." After being interviewed by reporters, Uncle Ou expressed as such.
In 1993, Uncle Ou caught a necklace thief on Dongfeng Street in Guangzhou, and since then, he hasn't stopped. Each time he handed the thief over to the police station, the officers always praised his righteous actions. "Leave your contact information, we will report it to the Brave Deed Foundation."
