In recent times, the traffic police of the Neighbor Water County Public Security Bureau have thrown themselves fully into creating a provincial-level civilized city. They have focused on strengthening traffic order management at main intersections and traffic lights, directing traffic through humane enforcement methods to persuade vehicles and pedestrians to abide by traffic regulations.
The team has targeted the main intersections, traffic violations, and accidents in the urban area according to their patterns and characteristics. Every morning at eight o'clock, they arrange for officers to be on duty on the roads. First, they increase the severity of punishment for speeding, drunk driving, fatigued driving, overloading, improper parking, riding motorcycles without helmets, and carrying passengers illegally in low-speed cargo vehicles. Second, they correct bad habits such as pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles running red lights and not using crosswalks. They guide traffic enforcers to verbally educate those who do not use crosswalks or disobey traffic lights. Third, they adopt methods such as helping the elderly and young and smiling service to guide pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles to voluntarily follow traffic rules. This allows every traffic participant to reach a consensus with traffic managers mentally, changing from "the traffic police don't let me violate" to "I don't want to violate."
As of now, the team has invested 1600 man-hours, persuading 2300 pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles to follow traffic rules. The humane enforcement method has been deeply welcomed by the citizens. (Feng Wenjie)
