Trees in Winter

The trees in winter are solemn,
Even more concise and decisive.
They shed the naivety of spring,
The brilliance of summer,
And the splendor of autumn,
To become a sharp blade,
Pointing straight to the sky,
Standing there with integrity.
When rain comes,
When frost comes,
When ice comes,
When snow comes,
They face them calmly,
Shouldering them with generosity.
Without needing leaves to applaud beside them,
Nor the wind to stir around them,
A tree is a tree,
Silently shouldering what it must,
Facing up to what it should with openness.
Having lost the lushness and beauty that leaves once brought,
It also discards complexity and burdens.
The trees full of leaves in summer may be broken by fierce winds,
But the trees in winter,
In the fierce winds,
Either stand tall or fall over,
But they will never bend,
Because
They have discarded the superfluous and burdens,
Simplicity is the most beautiful.
I like the trees in winter,
I like the simplicity and integrity of the trees in winter.
