Under the care of many caring individuals, in 2004, Xu Shixi was admitted to Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology. Once again, it was these caring people who covered his tuition and living expenses; love completely changed the fate of the orphan Xu Shixi. After struggling through university, Xu Shixi soon went to Guangdong to work. In 2007, he worked as an assistant to the chairman of an educational group. Just as his career was taking off, his elderly grandmother fell seriously ill. Upon hearing this news, Xu Shixi did not hesitate and quickly resigned to return home to take care of his grandmother.
Yesterday, in the chilly weather, in the rented room at the Ma Yue Industrial Park in Taiping Town, Qingxin County, Little Xu got up early. He lit the coal briquettes for warmth while waiting for his grandmother to wake up. During his time in Qingxin County, Guangdong, every morning he would first prepare a basin of hot water in the kitchen for his grandmother to wash her face. Then he would personally help her tie her headscarf and prepare a bowl of steaming oatmeal for her. "To prevent my grandmother from feeling lonely, I also bought two local dogs. She likes these animals, and when she feels lonely, the dogs become her good companions, giving her a sense of security," said Little Xu. Now, while working, he also takes care of his grandmother. In a foreign land, he has tried to replicate the living environment of their hometown to alleviate his grandmother's loneliness and homesickness.
Before last year's Spring Festival, seeing his grandmother over 90 years old suffering from a serious illness and struggling to live day by day, Xu Shixi came up with the idea of bringing his grandmother to Qingyuan to work. After the Spring Festival, Xu Shixi carried his grandmother out of their hometown, making a long journey to bring her to Qingyuan, where he could work and take care of her simultaneously.
