Tokyo (Reuters) - Nikon, the world's third-largest camera maker, is preparing to launch a new camera that it hopes will open a new market, its president Makoto Kimura told Reuters. Speculation is mounting that Nikon could launch a new model as early as this month to compete with other high-end small camera makers.
Some camera blogs predict that this light single-lens reflex (SLR) camera could compete with the SONY NEX.
Nikon is doing better in developing countries such as Asia, with double-digit growth rates.
