"Expo Tour" in Jiangmen Gains Popularity; Industry Insiders Remind:
Guangzhou Daily News (Reporter Jian Guang) The six-month-long Shanghai Expo officially opened on May 1st, and the "Expo Tour" has become a hot topic among tourists. Recently, it was learned from travel agencies in Jiangmen that the "Expo Tour" is gradually gaining popularity. To meet tourist demands, travel agencies are also making every effort to promote Expo tour routes.
The enthusiasm for the "Expo Tour" is increasing day by day with nearly a hundred citizens signing up in a single day.
In recent days, after the "May Day" holiday, I learned from interviews at Jiangmen China Travel Service, Jiangmen National Travel Service, Zhongqiao Travel Agency, and others that the public's interest in signing up for the "Exbo Tour" is on the rise.
"In the past period, many citizens have been consulting about the Expo tours. Yesterday alone, we received over a dozen phone calls asking about the routes and prices," a staff member of Jiangmen China Travel Service told reporters. "The number of people registering for the Expo tour has significantly increased during this time," said Mr. Liu of Zhongqiao Travel Agency. At Jiangmen National Travel Service, it was also learned that on the busiest day, nearly a hundred people signed up for the Expo tour at the agency. Among the registered tours scheduled for late May and early June, over 80% were related to the Expo.
During this period, group tours organized by companies dominate while individual travelers are relatively fewer. "After May Day and before National Day, there aren't any long holidays, and since the Expo tour generally lasts more than four days, more people choose to take their annual leave for the trip," said Mr. Zhu of Jiangmen China Travel Service. "Therefore, there are more groups, and relatively fewer individual travelers."
Traveling becomes more rational
Citizens choose off-peak travel times
Which time period is suitable for the "Expo Tour"? Through investigation, it was found that citizens' travel choices are becoming more rational now. The Expo opening time is from May 1st to October 31st, and summer vacation is the peak period for student tours. Many citizens choose to avoid these two peak periods for their travels.
Travel agency insiders informed that due to the summer break in June, July, and August when all levels of schools will be on holiday, and the Expo being particularly attractive to students, these months will see a peak in student Expo tours. If one chooses to travel during this time, it would likely be inconvenient.
Precisely because of this insight, the number of tourists choosing this current period for the Expo visit is especially high.
In response, relevant responsible persons from Jiangmen China Travel Service, Jiangmen National Travel Service, and other travel agencies also suggested that after "May Day", the prices of air tickets and hotel accommodations for Expo routes have slightly decreased. However, once the summer vacation begins, it will usher in the peak season for student tours, and both air ticket prices and hotel accommodation prices will increase. Therefore, until mid-to-late June, the travel prices for the Expo will remain relatively favorable.
On the other hand, the flow of visitors within the Expo park is also lower compared to holiday periods, making this time a cost-effective choice for visiting the Expo. Hence, it is best to choose to go on the "Expo Tour" before mid-to-late June.
Most Popular:
Two-entry route
To compete for customer resources, upon investigating various travel agencies, it was discovered that they are promoting multiple travel routes for citizens to choose from.
Through interviews, it was found that currently, the Expo tours offered by travel agencies come in two forms: one is integrating the Expo tour into an East China tour; the other is a pure Expo-themed tour. It was also observed that in the first form, the general itinerary usually allocates 1 to 2 days for visiting the Expo Park, with the rest of the time focusing on the main attractions of the five cities in East China.
These travel routes range from 4 to 7 days, with prices varying between around 2000 yuan to approximately 4000 yuan. Compared to the original price of the five-city East China tour, adding the Expo as a scenic spot makes the current price higher.
According to the travel agencies, based on registration situations, the travel routes priced around 3000 yuan, lasting four days, allowing two entries into the Expo Park, are more popular.
"When we initially designed the travel routes, we considered that price might be the focus of tourists' attention, so most were designed for a single entry. However, judging from the current registration situation, people prefer to visit the Expo Park multiple times. After all, there are so many scenic spots to see, and visiting for just one day can only be a cursory glance, and one can only see a small part of it," said Miss Zhu of Jiangmen National Travel Service. "Therefore, we are also considering adjusting the travel routes, appropriately increasing the entry time to meet tourists' needs."
