**Lee Talks About the Issue of Result Counts Under Baidu's Site Syntax**

I know that most webmasters use the site syntax without keywords to observe the number of indexed pages. This is one method, but it’s not very accurate. The original purpose of the site syntax was to allow users to set constraints on the search scope in order to achieve more precise searches. This is essentially the same as using intitle or inurl. The result counts under these advanced syntaxes, like regular searches, are "estimates" rather than exact numbers. Therefore, it's entirely possible for the "result count" under the site syntax to decrease while the actual number of indexed pages increases.

So, what is a more accurate method?

1. **Monitor traffic from search engines.** This is the most direct and fundamental approach. If there are no significant fluctuations in traffic but there are large variations in the numbers from site searches, this simply indicates the inaccuracy of the result counts from site searches.

2. **Sample monitoring of internal URLs.** Some URLs have already been indexed by search engines; you can create a set of these URLs to monitor their indexing status. You can also monitor the indexing status of new URLs generated daily that haven't yet been indexed. Scripts for this kind of sampling-based evaluation are easy to write and are quite effective.

3. **Statistical tools provided by search engines.** We are still evaluating whether we should provide similar statistical tools.
