Giving up can allow us to gain more.

This is one of the test questions for a company to recruit new employees... You're driving a car on a stormy night. You pass by a bus stop where three people are waiting for the bus. One is an old man who is about to die, and he looks very pitiful. Another is a doctor who once saved your life, a great benefactor, someone you've dreamed of repaying. The third is a woman/man, the kind of person you've always dreamed of marrying, someone you might never meet again if you let them go. But your car can only fit one more person. Who would you choose? Please explain your reasoning.

Think carefully before reading further.

I don't know if this is a test of your character, because every answer has its own reasons. The old man is dying, so you should save him first. However, all elderly people eventually come to death as their final destination. You let the doctor get in first because he saved your life, and you think it's a good opportunity to repay him. Some people believe they can still repay him at some point in the future, but if you miss this chance, you may never encounter someone who makes your heart race like that again.

Out of 200 applicants, only one was hired. He didn’t explain his reasoning; he just said, “Give the doctor the car keys and let him take the old man to the hospital, while I stay behind and wait for the bus with my dream partner!”

Everyone I know thinks the above answer is the best, but no one (including me) thought of it at first. Is it because we never considered giving up the advantage we already had (the car keys)? Sometimes, if we can let go of some of our stubbornness, narrow-mindedness, and advantages, we might gain even more.
