The official uniform for the Expo 2010 Shanghai China volunteers has been officially revealed. The uniform features a color combination of white and green, representing the themes of harmony, cleanliness, and innovation. It is reported that during the duration of the Expo, there will be at least 5,000 volunteers present in the park every day, with the number possibly exceeding ten thousand at its peak. Additionally, there will be a "reserve team" consisting of around 8,000 members.
During the Expo, it was ensured that there would be no less than 5,000 volunteers within the park daily, reaching over ten thousand at its peak. Yesterday, Shanghai Expo Bureau and Xtep Limited signed a cooperation agreement in Shanghai, confirming Xtep as the leading partner of the Expo 2010 Shanghai China volunteers and the sole uniform sponsor for the Expo volunteers. Simultaneously, the official volunteer uniforms for the Expo 2010 Shanghai China were also officially unveiled. It was learned by reporters that the volunteers would be divided into two shifts daily, with approximately 8,000 personnel forming a "mobile force" to step in during emergencies.
Special Uniform Ensures Comfort
It is understood that Xtep will provide 80,000 sets of specialized uniforms for the Expo 2010 Shanghai China volunteers, with a total value of 36 million yuan. Each set includes two T-shirts, two pairs of pants, one windbreaker, and one hat. This uniform uses a color combination of white and green, representing the themes of harmony, cleanliness, and innovation.
In terms of fabric selection for the volunteer uniforms, natural and environmentally friendly cotton materials are used. In production techniques, high-tech weaving technologies have been employed, achieving optimal requirements for both the aesthetic appeal and comfort of the clothing. The heart-shaped pattern printed on the front of the uniform serves as the symbol for the Expo 2010 Shanghai China volunteers, while the back and front feature prints of the maps of China and the world respectively.
Since the Expo spans multiple seasons with unpredictable weather changes, the volunteer uniforms have been specially designed accordingly. Sleeves and pant lengths can be adjusted freely, ensuring functionality in aspects such as rainproofing, wind resistance, and warmth preservation.
T-shirt Fabric Selection
Commonly used fabrics for making t-shirts and casual shirts include: pure cotton, polyester-cotton blends, spandex, polyester, nylon, etc.
1. Pure Cotton: A commonly used fabric, with various types of cotton available, with combed cotton being of better quality. Advantages include good moisture absorption and environmental friendliness; however, it easily deforms and wrinkles. General characteristics of pure cotton fabrics: good hand feel, comfortable and eco-friendly wear, weight usually between 160g to 280g. Too thin will make it see-through, too thick will make it stifling, so choosing between 180g-240g is ideal. Common yarn counts are 21s or 32s, referring to the thickness of the cotton fiber yarn. Higher counts mean softer fabric. Yarns are divided into regular and combed, with combed yarns having a cleaner surface and softer texture.
2. Polyester-Cotton: A blend of cotton and polyester, also a commonly used fabric, typically containing 65% cotton and 35% polyester. It addresses the issue of pure cotton easily wrinkling and deforming while maintaining excellent moisture absorption, surpassing pure cotton in this aspect. However, it is slightly less comfortable to wear compared to pure cotton.
3. Nylon-Cotton: Combines all the advantages of cotton with elasticity, giving a silk-like feel and comfortable wear.
4. Spandex-Cotton: A blend of cotton and spandex, creating elastic fabric. Generally more form-fitting, highlighting the figure without feeling restrictive due to its elasticity.
5. Modal: A new type of eco-friendly material, relatively rare, with superior water absorption and sweat-wicking properties compared to cotton. Its main drawback is susceptibility to deformation, though currently rarely used. Mixing it with polyester or spandex improves its performance significantly.
6. 100% Polyester: Ideal for athletic wear, commonly used by brands like Adidas and Nike as functional fabric. It effectively evaporates sweat quickly, avoiding the heavy feeling associated with sweating in pure cotton, making it suitable for sports activities rather than casual wear. Athletes prefer wearing polyester rather than cotton for its performance benefits.
Note: During warmer autumn days, cotton can still be worn, but thicker garments should ideally be made of pure cotton since cotton tends to be thinner. Wearing pure polyester in cold weather can cause static electricity, which can be annoying, hence pure cotton remains the best choice for colder weather. For blended fabrics, the outer layer might be cotton while the inner lining could be polyester, which may lead to static issues.
