North American box office: "Hot Tub Time Machine" won the praise as an invincible comedy. From a certain perspective, this movie, like "The Hangover," incorporates surreal elements. The film tells the story of a man named Adam whose girlfriend leaves him, causing him to feel that his life has become dark. He then calls up some old friends to go on holiday to a ski resort. Each of his companions has their own troubles, which are, of course, related to women. At the resort, they discover a hot tub. Then, while soaking in it together, something unimaginable happens—they are transported back to 1986. Faced with a second chance at love, they plan to change their past choices. However, due to mistakes or the passage of time, they soon find themselves in the same situation again, leading to both outrage and stirring emotions. Trapped between the past and the future, these middle-aged men seem to have reached a dead end in their destiny. "Hot Tub Time Machine," if seen as a prequel to "The Hangover," might also generate a good response. Although not perfect, it still garners approval, achieving a commendable 63% (in fact, most of the dissent stems from its similarities to "The Hangover"). The New York Times said: "This movie is great! It makes me smile after sorrow and laugh wildly after feeling sorrowful." The Washington Post commented: "This movie is clearly a favorite among men." A magazine also provided a fairly high evaluation: "This is a film that can make you laugh, and the key is, you will find yourself smiling through tears."
