Applying creams and lotions can only moisturize the skin, not remove stretch marks.
Reporters once surveyed 30 pregnant women and mothers. Nearly 70% of these women said they had used olive oil or other skincare products to varying degrees in an attempt to reduce and prevent postpartum stretch marks.
"Last week, we encountered a middle-aged woman with severe abdominal stretch marks. She had given birth five years ago and had consistently used various skincare products for stretch mark removal during that time, spending a significant amount of money, but without any results," explained Yu Yanju, Director of the Dermatology Department at Oriental Plastic Surgery and an expert in stretch mark and scar repair.
Yu Yanju stated that when a woman becomes pregnant, due to the enlarging uterus, the skin's elastic fibers and abdominal muscles begin to stretch. When this stretching exceeds a certain limit, the elastic fibers break, resulting in irregular longitudinal pink or purplish-red cracks on the abdomen. Postpartum, although the broken elastic fibers gradually repair, they cannot fully return to their previous state. The original cracks on the skin fade over time, forming stretch marks.
Yu Yanju pointed out that the development of stretch marks is determined by the mother's individual constitution and the size of the fetus. Relying solely on skincare products to prevent or remove stretch marks is unrealistic because there is no authoritative study showing that such products have a clear effect on preventing stretch marks. They mostly serve to moisturize the skin but cannot restore the abdominal muscles to their pre-pregnancy condition.
Stretch marks can be removed; beauty doesn't have to be a thing of the past.
"We have just successfully completed a treatment for stretch mark removal," Yu Yanju said.
According to Yu Yanju, two months ago, 22-year-old Xiao Mei consulted at the non-surgical center of Oriental Plastic Surgery. Xiao Mei was very beautiful with an excellent figure, but due to early marriage and childbirth, her abdominal stretch marks were "crisscrossed," making them quite unsightly. As a result, she had to reluctantly give up many fashionable outfits.
Upon learning that the American LuxeStar fractional laser could effectively remove stretch marks, she sought consultation at the Oriental Plastic Surgery Hospital. After understanding the situation, she quickly decided to undergo treatment.
Oriental Plastic Surgery adjusted the treatment parameters based on the depth and distribution range of Xiao Mei's abdominal stretch marks. After one session of fractional laser treatment, her abdominal stretch marks showed significant improvement. A month later, she underwent a second treatment, and to everyone's delight, the stretch marks had almost completely disappeared after this treatment.
Yu Yanju indicated that the rapid healing of Xiao Mei's stretch marks was largely due to her undergoing treatment soon after childbirth.
The earlier the treatment for stretch marks, the better the results.
"The first two years after childbirth are the best period for repairing stretch marks, and treatment should be initiated as soon as possible after giving birth," Yu Yanju said.
Yu Yanju pointed out that within the first year after childbirth, the body has the strongest natural ability to repair stretch marks. The body automatically mobilizes collagen to replenish the stretch mark areas, linking some incompletely broken elastic fibers. Using fractional laser therapy during this stage can yield twice the results with half the effort. Just like when the body has a wound, it has a strong self-repair capability. Early treatment can effectively promote collagen production and recombination of elastic fibers, reconnecting the broken elastic fiber tissues caused by uterine expansion and excessive abdominal stretching, thoroughly removing stretch marks, and restoring tightness and elasticity to the abdominal skin.
"The fractional laser can also adjust different treatment parameters according to the characteristics of the patient's stretch marks and skin, easily meeting the different requirements of individual patients," Yu Yanju said.
American LuxeStar Fractional Laser for Stretch Mark Removal: Safe and Pain-Free
The American LuxeStar Fractional Laser is the latest computerized intelligent laser treatment technology introduced by Oriental Plastic Surgery, specifically targeting stretch marks and difficult scars. Its unique 2940nm light wave has extremely strong penetration. Through precise digital intelligent control, the fractional laser focuses its rectangular action on stretch marks and scar areas, concentrating energy deeply penetrating to the dermis layer, maximally stimulating collagen proliferation, prompting deep reticular fibers and elastic fibers in the stretch mark and scar regions to reorganize, thereby repairing scars and fading stretch marks.
"Using the American LuxeStar laser for stretch mark removal is completely painless, and the entire process is very quick, typically taking about 30 minutes per treatment. For larger stretch mark areas, generally 3-4 courses of treatment are needed. The fractional laser can also shorten the treatment intervals based on the patient's constitution and response," Yu Yanju said.
To verify the effectiveness of the American LuxeStar fractional laser treatment for stretch marks, reporters contacted Xiao Mei, who had previously received treatment at Oriental Plastic Surgery. Xiao Mei told reporters that she felt no pain during the treatment. Even when the energy was set to the maximum, she only experienced a warm sensation, making the entire treatment very comfortable and safe.
