Introduction to the Chronicles of Fengshen
I have always been a big fan of the Western D&D series. Whether it's the rules, games, or role-playing campaigns, I have a keen interest in all of them. I've also read the related series of novels multiple times. However, this system is simply too vast—or perhaps too profound. In China, it's difficult for ordinary players to integrate into this system. This is what people refer to as having a "steep learning curve." Moreover, most of the novels have convoluted language, making them hard to read and appealing only to so-called core players. My interest in this started after playing Baldur's Gate. Even though I have some understanding of and interest in Western fantasy, I found reading Dragonlance and Icewind Dale series quite challenging back then.
I began to wonder if there could be a way to introduce this series in writing that is more accessible and easy to understand, catering to the reading and linguistic habits of domestic readers while still staying close to the background culture of D&D. I know it's difficult, but I'll do my best. Of course, I don't expect to write something on the scale of the Dragonlance Chronicles (even though that book also uses the term 'chronicles').
