The air ducts have already accumulated a lot of dust and unpleasant smells, which not only affects the driving mood but is also detrimental to health. Therefore, today we will teach you how to remove the unpleasant smell from the air conditioning vents by yourself.

Sunlight Air Quality Test: For not-so-serious car interior odors, we can find a sunny day, drive the car under the sun, set the air conditioning system to the warm air mode, then turn the airflow to the maximum, and let it sit for about ten minutes with all doors and windows fully open. One advantage is that it uses ultraviolet rays to disinfect the interior; the other is that it allows the hot air to thoroughly circulate the dirty air inside the ducts. The benefit is that you can complete the odor removal without spending a cent, but the downside is that it can only remove weaker indoor odors.

Replace Air Filter: The air conditioning filter is the most easily overlooked area. Some people don't even know that there's an air conditioning filter in the car that needs regular cleaning and replacement. However, a dirty air conditioning filter not only fails to filter out dirty air but also causes secondary pollution to the fresh air entering the car. Therefore, to completely eliminate the car's interior odor, you must block the source.

Under normal conditions, the service life of an original air conditioning filter is 30,000 kilometers or one year. If you frequently drive on dirt roads or areas with poor air quality, you should appropriately shorten the replacement cycle. Especially for those who often smoke inside the car, you need to pay more attention to regularly replacing the air conditioning filter. The method of cleaning the filter is very simple. The air conditioning filters of most small cars are located below the front windshield. Remove the filter, clean it with high-pressure air, then expose it to sunlight for a few hours before reinstalling it back to its original position, which can achieve the purpose of removing odors. However, for severely polluted filters, a complete replacement is necessary.

Clean the Ducts: Replacing the air conditioning filter blocks the source of bacteria entering the car, but if there are still bacteria left in the ducts, there will still be odors. There is a simple way to remove strange smells from the ducts, which is to use an air conditioning duct cleaner. Nowadays, there are many kinds of sterilizing agents available in the market for cleaning ducts, priced from dozens to hundreds of yuan. Drivers can choose according to their needs. The cleaning method is also very simple. Park the car in a location with good air quality, turn on the external circulation switch and set the air conditioning to natural ventilation mode, then evenly spray the cleaner into the duct through the outlet. After a few minutes, open the windows and turn on the air conditioning for thorough ventilation.

Of course, this method is also suitable for ducts that are not heavily polluted. For vehicles whose ducts have not been cleaned for a long time, it's best to go to a professional car care center for a thorough steam sterilization or photocatalysis treatment.
