Women in the "four periods" are not suitable for drinking strong tea.
1. Menstrual period: During this time, women face a large amount of blood loss. Since menstrual blood contains high-iron hemoglobin, plasma protein and other components, women need to eat more iron-rich foods during and after menstruation. However, strong tea contains a lot of tannic acid, which easily combines with iron in the intestines and precipitates, hindering the absorption of iron by the intestinal mucosa and leading to iron-deficiency anemia. Secondly, during the menstrual period, due to changes in neuroendocrine regulation function, there are often varying degrees of mental tension, headaches, breast pain and other reactions. To avoid these reactions, one should control their emotions and not let them become overly excited. You can drink a little light tea, but not strong tea. For women who are accustomed to drinking tea and suffer from dysmenorrhea, if they suddenly stop drinking tea during the menstrual period and feel uncomfortable, they can try rinsing their mouths with tea water, which can satisfy their craving for tea, refresh the mouth, eliminate bad breath, protect teeth, and have a good mood during the "inconvenient" days.
2. Pregnancy: Pregnant women are better off drinking light tea. Drinking strong tea can easily lead to iron deficiency anemia and affect the nutrition supply to the fetus. Strong tea contains a high concentration of caffeine, which can increase the heart rate and urine output of pregnant women, increasing the burden on the heart and kidneys of pregnant women, thus inducing pregnancy poisoning symptoms, which is not conducive to the health of both mother and fetus.
3. Pre-delivery period: Drinking too much strong tea before delivery can cause insomnia. Insufficient sleep before childbirth often makes the parturient physically exhausted, weak uterine contraction, resulting in difficult labor. Pregnant women can rinse their mouths with tea water during pregnancy and pre-delivery period, which can increase appetite, make them energetic during the day, improve sleep quality at night, and improve their mental state to varying degrees.
4. Lactation period: Tannic acid in strong tea will be absorbed into the blood after entering the body, inhibiting the secretion function of the mammary glands, causing insufficient milk secretion, thereby affecting the development of newborns. Similarly, using tea water to rinse the mouth during lactation can prevent gum bleeding, kill bacteria in the mouth, keep the mouth clean, and improve the quality of milk. However, there are exceptions. Some individual women have no problem drinking tea during these periods, so they are lucky.
