Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, November 30 (reported by Li Zhiyong) - On November 29, a security inspector at the Lishui Bridge South Station of Beijing Subway Line 5 discovered a rifle bullet in a passenger's luggage during their shift. The passenger stated that it was a gift from a friend.
According to the head of Beijing Subway Line 5, at around 14:00 on November 29, the security inspector found an item resembling a bullet in a passenger's suitcase through the security scanner and immediately notified the station police for inspection. After obtaining the passenger's consent, the police opened the suitcase and confirmed that the hazardous item displayed on the security scanner screen was indeed a real rifle bullet.
Upon investigation, the passenger carrying the bullet was identified as a male surnamed Jiang, who had come to Beijing from Henan Province. He claimed that the bullet was a gift from a friend and did not anticipate it would cause him trouble.
It is understood that with the deepening of Beijing Subway’s winter transportation work, security checks have been further strengthened across all lines. For passengers carrying controlled knives, bullets, toxic or hazardous liquids, and other dangerous items, security personnel will confiscate such items upon discovery.
