A company named Tilera in Silicon Valley recently released a Tile64 processor, which is a 64-core (note, not 64-bit) processor. According to the company, this processor is about 30 times more efficient than Intel's dual-core Xeon processor.
Intel might already be tired of hearing from vendors claiming that their products can beat the dual-core Xeon, but this product is one that Intel cannot ignore.
The Tile64 is a RISC-based processor with a core frequency of 600MHz to 1GHz, designed for server and embedded application scenarios. The company also claims that they have solved the problem of how multi-core processors can work together efficiently, so in the future, processors with hundreds or even thousands of cores could be easily realized.
