The other day, the authoritative server testing organization of the international - SPEC (short for Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation) released the results of application performance tests on a new type of dual-channel quad-core domestic server developed in China. The result was 1538 transactions processed per second. This broke the highest record of dual-channel platforms maintained by HP minicomputers for nearly eight months and created a new world record.
In popular terms, dual-channel refers to servers adopting two CPUs for operation, and quad-core refers to each of the two CPUs having two operation cores, which can greatly improve the computing ability of the server.
Currently, the global server market is at a key time when it is switching from dual-core platforms to quad-core platforms. Compared with dual-core platform servers, the single-machine performance of this dual-channel quad-core platform developed by the Inspur Group has increased by more than one time. The number of servers and total power consumption used in building information systems using quad-core servers have both dropped by about 50%, and the total cost can drop by more than 40%. This means that users who originally needed to purchase two dual-core servers now only need to purchase one quad-core server, and maintenance and management costs will also be greatly reduced. Breakthroughs by domestic server manufacturers in the application efficiency of quad-core servers will reduce investments and application costs in informatization in our country and promote the development of informatization.
It is understood that this is already the third time that Inspur servers have broken the SPEC world record, marking that domestic servers represented by Inspur have possessed the strength to compete with foreign brands in high-end areas, and the door to the "high-end club" of servers, originally controlled by international giants, is beginning to open to domestic server manufacturers in our country.
