■The violent demolishers were employees under Shen Shilu, a real estate businessman. As a people's representative of Zhengzhou City, Shen thought that "whoever demolishes Ma Fuxi's house is not illegal" because "the property is an illegal structure and thus not protected by law."

Ma Xiaojun, a 9-year-old boy, recalled that this was the scene which often came into his dreams. In the violent demolition more than two years ago, this then 6-year-old boy was tied up all over the body by the demolishers with adhesive tapes.
