Four years ago, I came to Korea alone. To be honest, before I came, I was deeply influenced by the "Korean Wave" and sincerely believed that South Korea is a very good country, how advanced it is, how kind and friendly the South Koreans are... But all this love turned into disappointment and fear the moment I arrived in Seoul... Sitting in the car, I was shocked at the streets outside the window, with only one thought in mind: No way, how run-down is this!? Is this really Seoul?! Where are the skyscrapers and luxurious villas I saw in Korean dramas?! Why are there so many dilapidated little houses, built in such a messy way? Does South Korea not have an urban planning bureau?! Why do so many scenes on the street differ so much from what's shown in TV series?! It's like two different countries!!!!
